Hardcore gamers think nothing of spending $600.00 or more on a good video card that will be obsolete in a year or two. Virtually every motherboard has onboard sound and the majority of people opt to simply use it instead of upgrading to a high quality internal sound card like the Soundblaster AE-9. A system is only as good as its weakest component and if you game online this option will allow you to use a professional broadcast microphone instead of the cheap little mike that comes with your gaming headset. You will also be able to hear your fellow gamers with far greater clarity than your onboard or USB headphone audio sound device can provide. The 129dB SNR is by far the cleanest signal available. Compare that to the competition and remember that every 3dB of difference in SNR equates to a doubling of the clarity. Sure, $350.00 is relatively expensive for upgraded sound, but this is a unique and very special sound card.

I own this soundcard and all I can tell everyone is that it is frickin amazing. I own a pair of DT990 pros and before I used my onboard audio and that was a mistake. When I got this soundcard they came to life. Best investment in audio ever. I put the crystalizer to 20-30% and everything else off in the SBX thing and I EQ treble so it doesn't pierce my eardrums.

Great video - just the angle and the level of expertise I needed to keep this on my Must Buy List....unfortunately. Interestingly, right at the @8:56 mark we have some clear evidence of how good the audio was....when it suddenly went back to the previous recording output. It was jarring, and another star in favour of the AE-9. Good stuff...insta-subbed. And you make a really good point...sound is just as important as the video side of "the experience". I realized how important that was when I played Limbo which has an incredible soundscape....the sound alone took it from a really tricky puzzle game with cool atmosphere to my all-time favourite game which brought me to tears at the end. It's THAT important....

i owned this the ae9 and i can tell you this for everyone that loves music and appreciate good sound this soundcard is worth the money. The ess chip is very detailed and clean and can attain quite high sound lvls. But sadly for my tinnitus ears the Ess chip and my hd800 kind of beats my ears quite badly so i had to return it. If u dont got tinnitus or own a pair of "analyctical headphones" due to the hd800 6khz this was not a good match at least for my ears. But dear lord battlefield and other games just sounded heavenly

How is this card for capturing audio? Does it lag? I heard that the software from Creative makes the SoundBlaster cards to lag when capturing audio. So maybe it's just an expensive gamer toy or can it compete also as a professional audio interface?
@MARIOGUY789
2 жыл бұрын
From what I've experimented with capturing the TOSLINK input from my PS2 and GameCube via the EON GCHD MK-II, the SoundBlaster AE-9 is great, and I don't even use the card to its full capabilities. I'm not a professional audio producer or a musician, but the card does exactly what I need it to when paired with my AVerMedia Live Gamer 4K capture card, and if any desync does occur in the initial mix, that's what post production is for, though I've never actually run into serious desync or lag issues whatsoever. Anyway, that's just me, a minor, out-of-the-way gaming channel replying to a comment that's over a year old.
