Just gotta say that the reason the new Adler-Krasnaya Polyana connection was so incredibly expensive is that it involved loads of tunnels and bridges, and a railroad that went along with it. So it looks crazily costly per kilometer, but it's not just any kind of road either.

Sochi is a very pleasant place having been there in September 2018. I went up to the ski resort and to the top of the peak too. No snow obviously but I agree the roads were very good. You missed out Stalin's dacha which is also worth a visit. As for your comment about the queues for the ski lift at the lower slopes that is common in most European resorts, but as you say a ski pass would normally cover the entire valley and public transport would connect all the resorts. Any skier worth his or her salt would want to try all the locations. But in my opinion if you want really picturesque skiing you cannot beat Austria. The pistes there run through alpine forests. They are incredibly beautiful. And they really know how to apres-ski too.

Do you seriously think that spending $51 billion was a wise move? Most of the objects are not used atm - which was predicted by "hateful" Westerners The same was said about WC in Brasil - waste of money the country needed for something else, same for Athens What we say is very rational, what was irrational was waste so much money. Not to mention corruption, doping scandal and the small details like not working equipment.

@@RomaInvicta202 Most of the so-called $50 billions was spent making roads, airport, port, train tracks, building facilities and infrastructure for the city.
