@@maximusraven9972 Great question! That is the baseline speed they recommend you buy in order to get the suggested performance from the processor. You want to pay more attention to what memory speed the motherboard supports. Now for the Picasso CPU's this motherboard says it only supports up to 2933. However it still worked and booted at 3200Mhz speed. I went with the 3200Mhz because the idea was something you could upgrade in the future. So, later if you go with a Ryzen 5 3600 the baseline recommended speed for the 3600 is 3200Mhz. That is the same recommendation for the ryzen 5, 7, and 9. However most enthusiast will recommend you go 3600Mhz on those higher end processors.

I built this pc with an a320m board since those have lower frame latency and keep the max tdps. If you watch a video on r5 3600 on a x570 board vs a320m board it has about 8% more performance and 7'c less temps. RGB ram is for aesthetics and the same ram can be bought for 15$ less. Not to mention the stock wraith cooler is perfectly fine, with 2 hours of 100% loads at a 4.23ghz oc the cpu had temps of about 73'c. If this was truly budget it would have these instead of your selection, while I do appreciate the aesthetics this build costs about 75$ more than it should, not to mention the ssd, for the same price you could get a 1TB wd blue M.2 SSD at about the same read/write speeds. Factoring that in, you could've easily brought the build costs down to 360$

I built my computer with an Intel Core i5-9500 (6 cores) and I chose the Thermaltake Versa H24 - Window which comes with a rear fan so I bought a Cooler Master SickleFlow X 120 mm fan. I paid MYR188 (USD45.49) for the fan and casing. With the stock Intel CPU cooler, the CPU hovers between 30-50 degrees Celsius when idle. The CPU temperature reached 60 degrees Celsius once when my brother played Team Fortress 2 with it. That's my suggestion for a cheaper casing and fan combination. It is a good video. I'm currently trying to get this build done for my son and running into issues. The motherboard I have is the B450 Steel Legend with BIOS version P3.20 preinstalled. Using the Ryzen 3 3200G with 2x8G G.Skill Ripjaws V 3200mhz RAM. I'm trying to do a bench test to see if everything works before putting it in a case, but it will not boot. I have power to the board, as the onboard RGBs are working, but the CPU fan doesn't spin and nothing comes up on the monitor that its plugged into. :( I'm wondering if the issue I'm having is with the RAM. Asrock's site says the Steel Legend's compatibility with the Picasso APUs is limited to 2933mhz. Any ideas?
@TechTeardownYT
4 жыл бұрын
The ram speed shouldn't be an issue. You can always downclock it to 2933mhz too. However, if the cpu fan is not spinning I would just double check connections the cpu power cord might need to be put back in. Sometimes I have luck with just unlplugging all the psu cables and plugging them all back in. Also, if you're using a modular psu check them at the psu side too. After that try booting with just one stick of ram. Double check the manual to make sure you're using the right slot on the ram. But I think you're issue is going to be with the motherboard, or the processor or the power supply. But psu least likely.

Thanks for the prompt reply! I wasn't expecting to hear back so soon, if at all, given the age of the video. Update: PSU sockets all pass testing with a multimeter. I attempted to reinstall CPU and 1 stick of RAM with the same results: onboard RGB lighting comes on motherboard but CPU and PSU fans are not spinning. It is interesting to note that when I jumped the power pin on the ATX socket to test the PSU it spun like normal. At this point I'm pretty convinced it has to be a faulty motherboard, more specifically, something wrong with the ATX connection on it. What else would cause the PSU fan to not spin if it spins fine when jump started?

Well done. I came here to see a budget system, but I loved how expensive the system looks. I am going to build a similar system, maybe with a few cheaper parts. I am curious about the motherboard. I was planning to go with ASRock B450M Pro4. Specs wise It is really similar to the one you used. Main differences are onboard coolers+rgb and DisplayPort, which are OK for me. In fact, I think ASRock B450 Pro4 (No M) model has DisplayPort too along with VGA. Are there any other advantages of buying your model? Also, can you confirm that I can use 3200Mhz RAM sticks in 3200 speed with B450M Pro4?
@TechTeardownYT
5 жыл бұрын
Hey thank you! 3200Mhz is supported with an XMP or OC profile on the Pro4. The only performance advantages you will see is the VRM on the Steel legend is better. The Steel Legend is a 4+2 phase VRM and has a beefier heat-sink on the VRM than the Pro4. The Pro4 has a 6+3 phase VRM but the Vcore VRM performs like a 3 phase. The Pro4 is still worth the price they ask for it though and a decent budget motherboard. If you ever plan to upgrade into a 8 core CPU and/ or do overclocking I would go steel legend or just a different motherboard all together. I think you would be able to do some decent enough overclocking on the Pro4 but I would make sure you have good air flow in the case. Because the heat sinks they use on the Pro4 are more reliant on good airflow rather than its mass. My only major complaint about the Pro4 (I've only used the B350 version) is that the heat sinks are not secured very well. You touch them and you feel like they're about to fall off.
@Bruce.B
5 жыл бұрын
@@TechTeardownYT Thank you. I am planning to do some overclocking for sure. Well, although I am mostly educated in these stuff, I do not know much about VRM. I am assuming 4+2 phase VRM is better than what Pro4 has, if it acts like 3 like you said. But does affect the performance? Or is it about voltage security? (So far I assumed it would give me more stable performance when overclocking, but I don't know how many is good enough, or even how to measure a VRM)
@TechTeardownYT
5 жыл бұрын
@@Bruce.B For a CPU like the 3200G or 3400G or even a Ryzen 5 6 core it would be fine and It wouldn't effect performance and you can overclock just fine. If it did it would be very negligible. It even has enough power to support an 8 core but the thermal load on that VRM with such a small heat sink the thermals could eventually effect the performance on the 8 core cpu. But with the system I have here the Pro4 is just fine. I don't suspect most people buying an 8 core would be pairing it with the Pro4 anyway. If I am on a budget and buying a 6 core or a 4 core CPU and plan to either do no overclocking or some light overclocking I wouldn't hesitate to buy the Pro4. It is a decent motherboard. If you would like to learn more about the VRM of the Pro4 and understand it better than I could explain it here: I recommend this video from Buildzoid. @@TechTeardownYT Thank you. I am watching it right away. If I am not taking your time too much, I should ask you one more thing. Well, you know that most B450 motherboards needs bios update for Ryzen 3000 CPU, usually by using an older CPU. But, I do not have any AM4 CPU. I know that AMD can send a loaner Athlon 200EG for update. But I live in a small country in Europe, Montenegro (This is also why I don't have much options and PC parts are more expensive here). And I don't think AMD would send a loaner here. People say that retailers can update bios for customers. But I doubt my retailer can do that since my retailer is just a small online-only warehouse seller. I may visit all the PC services in my city and ask them if they can borrow me an AM4 CPU. But it is kinda difficult as well. Basically I should make it work by myself. I read that some people got their AsRock motherboards already updated, probably by their retailers. But I cannot trust on this. So, I started to consider buying a motherboard with Flashback function so I can update BIOS without an old CPU. *MSI B450M Gaming Plus* seems like a good option in the same price range. It has Flashback. It has fewer USB and no VGA output at the back panel though. However I couldn't find much info about its overclocking performance or VRMs in general. The offical website doesn't even tell the max shared VRAM for APU. What I should ask here; Would you recommend "MSI B450M Gaming Plus" over AsRock Pro4 or Steel Legend? (I care so much, because I know how I use my tech. It is very likely that this will be my main work and entertainment PC for a long time. I will add a GPU when I save some money, and use it for years.)
@TechTeardownYT
5 жыл бұрын
@@Bruce.BYou're good. I'm here to help. the maximum shared memory is 2048MB or 2GB for the MSI board. The MSI board is a decent option if you're going with a 4 core or 6 core. I cant find good info on its vrm but I do see it doesnt have a heat sink on the soc vrm so you would want go light on the voltage you give that which could effect your thermals when overclocking. Especially effects it when using APUs and overclocking memory. But... that being said MSI usually uses better vrm components so you probably are still fine with the MSI board as long as you have good air flow in your case. The vrm is a 4+3 for the MSI board. If you want to go full sized ATX the gaming plus board in atx size has a 4+2 and has a heat sink on the soc.

Hello, I have this Ryzen cpu, RX580 gpu and 1x 8gb 2400mhz ram, do I lost a lot of performance if I do not have 3200mhz of ram? should I buy faster ram, or buy another one 8gb 2400mhz and have dual channel?
@TechTeardownYT

I'll have to do testing but in my mind, you having dual channel might be more important than the speed of the ram. Especially since you could probably OC the ram if you're comfortable with doing it

You will lose performance, but not enough to make you consider buying 3200mhz. Just go with another 8gb stick of 2400. Dual Channel is more important than speed.

How is the airflow and cooling for this case?

The temperatures seemed to be okay not great but I didn't have a lot of faith in it. With oddly placed vent slots on the backside. Kind of like nzxt h500 case but placed in front of the fans intake.

did you needed to update bio for moto or was it ready to go
@mattevans1643
4 жыл бұрын
You'll know if you need to update it when you get it. If it says ryzen 3000 ready on the box, it's good to go. If it doesn't say that, then just pop the cpu in anyway and find out. If it fails to boot, then you need to flash the bios with an updated version.

imo for a $450 build this is terrible value, you could’ve gone with an RX 570 and a 3100

Save money. It can work at 720p, on low settings. That will give you a very enjoyable gaming experiance. If you want 1440p then buy a gpu.

The whole point is that the 3200g has integrated graphics. You can game on it without a gpu. If you want a better experiance, buy a gpu, and a better processor.
