First the 56mm and now the 75mm. I never bought a dedicated portraiture lens because most of the time it was a lens i'd only take out a few times per year. I only have my Olympus 45 because I found it at a great price used. TTArtisan is doing a fantastic job.

great review as always Richard! I was contemplating an 85mm f1.8 from Viltrox and now I think this affordable 75mm is the way to go! I have the Z5 and love that smaller lenses are making its way to the Z system.

We need to compare it with Viltrox 85/1.8. If the IQ and Bokeh is comparable, this one will be a better option to save over 200 grams in weight, not to mention the price difference.

thanks for the suggestion! Probably can't do it right now as I already got a few other reviews scheduled for the next few months. But I'll write down your suggestion and see if there is a chance to do that in the future :)

75mm is sooo slept on. They are finally thinking out of the box, I was hoping Sony made a 75mm 1.2 GM to minimize size and have insane bokeh. Beating out the sigma 85 in size and quality but we all know what happened.

Why don't all TTArtisan lenses look like that lens? I have ~4 TTA lenses, but i do really *hate* that every lens does have another lens design! Stay *focused* in double meaning - TTArtisan. I do really like the click-stops here - sounds quality ! From a cheap lens like that. Where's the TTA 35/F2 AF into the same design - which much shorter lens barrel, and also aperture ring?😍

I have asked their found Mr Li why there are so many different designs and he did explain their reasons in my interview: kzitem.info/news/bejne/l2aCx4V9jIqqpqgsi=9cmYKvdjO7vKNl1y

How does it compare to Samyang 75mm?
@nightdonutstudio
2 күн бұрын
Samyang is even smaller and lighter. About 100 gran lighter. Quite amazing consider it is f1.8.
@TheRealRichardWong

Sorry i don't have access to the Samyang to compare. But the Samyang is about twice the price of the TTArtisan
@USGrant21st
Күн бұрын
@@TheRealRichardWong not really, Samyang is now selling at $355 and no doubt will go on sale for $299 soon again. Actually just checked Rokinon 75/1.8 is selling for $279 -- that's not a difference that anybody would consider significant.
@ernesttiki283
Күн бұрын
@@USGrant21st isn't $355 virtually exactly two times the price of the TTArtisan $178? I'm sure TTArtisan can be purchased quite a bit cheaper than the standard price too if you shop around or just wait a little while. If you can get one for around $150-160 brand new, it's amazing value consider it's got full metal build and built-in aperture ring
@USGrant21st

@@ernesttiki283 had you read my post before hitting reply button, you would know that you can have Rokinon right now for $279, and $80 difference is nothing. At this price level the price is never a decisive factor.

What would be your top pick your short portrait (65-85mm) for Nikon Z?

If you want best quality (and not paying exotic price), the Nikon S 85 1.8 is my pick. Otherwise i do really like this TTArtisan if you happy with good enough image quality.

I don't apply any extra sharpening with all my image quality test photos. They are usually all RAW -> JPG using standard Lightroom settings.
