As a person with a PhD in polymers, YES so true not to use plastics for food if you can avoid it (transfer to a plate before microwaving a meal, for example). BUT if you want to, silicone is honestly not bad for you. Silicones are basically the same material building blocks as sand ... and don't burn into anything, let alone anything bad for you, on head contact. Whereas, plastics are basically made of the same building blocks as gasoline which you def don't want to eat. So when in doubt, choose silicones and don't be afraid of it (they take forever to wear out, so buying 1 silicone spatula might be more sustainable than buying like 4 wooden spatulas)

But silicone as we know it, such as silicone molds for baking, silicone stretch covers, and other silicone kitchen items, are not made from silicon alone. They are a mixture of silicone and plastic. Not true. Silicone is tasteless, what you're actually tasting is dish soap, which is why the taste gets worse over time. Why not just use a bowl as a microwave cover? Or a large microwaveable container? I guess it depends on how large of a dish you’re putting in the microwave.. but I mostly microwave things straight from the fridge that are already in microwaveable Tupperware, so it seems silly to buy another entire product just for that purpose, it’s just more large clutter, with nooks and crannies that are annoying to clean.. and for the ‘steaming compartment’ I just add water to the dish before I put it in the microwave, or you can use a small cup and fill it with water. There are also purpose built microwave plate covers with vents that have been around for years - they’re great for containing moisture as well as ‘splatter’, and so much easier to give that a quick wash/ rinse after each use than wiping the entire inside of the microwave.

@@tinybattyboy That's true, however let's be honest : none of these products, nor this video (and the other thousands like it) are created or marketed for people with disabilities. It's really great if they can help, but the fact that these products are made very cheaply to satisfy our consumerism and some kind of esthetics for social media and NOT to help with disability means that possibly they will break quickly or won't even exactly satisfy the people who need them. They are also possibly made in the worst environmental and labour conditions. All in all, it's really important to allow people with disabilities to get things that will make their life easier, but I don't think we can label these cheap plastic stuff as inclusive.

@@mathilde569 oh, yes of course, I was simply concerned with the comments claiming nobody could get actual use out of them, these cheap plastic items wouldn’t be able to hold up compared to items on the same site that contains more dedication and is more durable, but typically targeted items may cost more than these cheaper alternatives, so it would really depend on the disabled individual’s needs when assessing such products.

i know the majority of these things people dont necessarily need, but for people who executive dysfunction, excessive fatique, who are autistic or have adhd, disabled, et cetera, items like these would bring ease and make their lives easier. maybe the average joe doesnt need it. but these items could very well be needed by disabled and neurodivergent people. ps: executive dysfunction is when it feels excessively difficult to simply get up and do normal daily tasks, let alone work. to quote, "Children and adults with executive dysfunction often struggle to organize materials, regulate emotions, set schedules and stick with tasks. They misplace papers, reports, and other school materials. They might have similar problems keeping track of their personal items or keeping their bedroom organized." for those who's executive function part of the brain works, this isnt an issue for you, but it can very well be for many neurodivergent people. oh, neurodivergence is basically when your brain is wired in a way that isn't the norm. people with bpd, ptsd, autism, adhd, anxiety, down-syndrome, and other conditions are considered neurodivergent (versus neurotypical, which means your brain functions normally.)

Item: 1. unnecessary 2. Just a weird, also you already have strainer, if you don’t-use a lid. 3. Your olive oil comes in a bottle(usually they are also pretty aesthetic) 4. you have a cup, you have a spoon, you have a hand- It is unnecessary dishes and honestly somewhat stupid. 5. Harder to clean than a knife, if you have so dirty hands you cant chop a banana(which you can do only touching the peel) you should just go and wash them. NEXT! 6.Ice cube 7. Parchment paper 8. takes up to much space, there are silicone ones that are easy too which you (or somebody you know) probably already have.

So many of these are completely pointless. Don't you ever feel bad about trying to sell useless shit to people, knowing the cost of making those gadgets on our world? Do you never think about the people who were paid slave wages to make those? Do you never worry that the children around you won't get to grow up knowing seasons and breathable air? Does none of that matter more than making a quick buck?

A lot of these things were initially created for disabled people. People with chronic issues like muscle pain. People with mental disabilities, etc. But they advertise it to the wider audience to expand the market. But truthfully the creators are usually people who had severe issues and created these things as a solution. Most of these gadgets aren’t at fault. The over-consumerism is. The people selling these garner only a portion of the blame. The customers who have zero awareness or common sense are mostly to be blamed.

@@catIing no that’s now what I mean. I’m saying the larger responsibility lies more on the consumer when it’s given in that context. The current existence of tiktok unfortunately encourages consumerism because people just lack self awareness over what need and what they don’t. This isn’t like some kind of checkmate reply. This is just me bouncing off of your comment with my own thoughts

I pray you receive this message in love. No need to be mean. Have you considered that your negative comment can cause someone else emotional stress? Think about if you posted a video that you'd hope a few people would enjoy instead, your inbox is flooded with negative commentary. There is enough hate in the world. I actually like all of these items, while I wouldn't buy all of them, it's my opinion as to why. When we encounter material that we feel isn't beneficial to us, we can choose to entertain something else- no need to offer negative feedback if it wasn't solicited.

Look for single source olive oil which means it only comes from one place. Many brands use low quality olives from many different places and there's a good chance they were moldy olives. Read the label. A good olive oil will say product of Italy or Turkey. If it lists more than one county of origin, I wouldn't buy it.
