Why are you so hung up on the third cousins thing? I don't even know the names of any of my second cousins, let alone if I even have any third cousins! A third cousin is someone who you share one great-great-grandparent with, which is basically not being related at all. First cousins, sure, that's a bit icky, mainly because you've usually known eachother since you were kids, but my uncle recently did a dna test and found out that he and his wife are technically second or third cousins, and another one of my relatives in that area is second or third cousins with her husband; that's just what happened in rural areas before everyone started moving around for education and work. The kiss is gross because of the mother-in-law thing, and because it's so clearly taking a shit on canon.

Things work differently in the Elven world. Emotions are heightened, feelings of strong affection and kinship expressed. Elrond whispers emotionally "Forgive me" to Galadriel because he will not yield Galadriel's Nenya's ring to Adar in return for Galadriel's life. And Galadriel wouldn't have it any other way. Galadriel whispers fiercely back to Elrond, "WIn!". Galadriel does not want Elrond to surrender her Nenya's ring to Adar. Galadriel made Elrond promise to pursue Sauron at all costs, even if it meant putting that above or costing Galadriel her life. Elrond is absolutely heartbroken and distraught that he cannot put Galadriel's life above giving power to the enemy, Adar and his Orcs. Elrond knows his answer to Adar, refusing to give up the ring, is essentially a death sentence for Galadriel. So Elrond expresses his deep affection for Galadriel by giving her a tender kiss, essentially expressing his deep love and affection for Galadriel. That it's absolutely KILLING him that he can't save her life even thought that possibility has been offered to him by Adar. His kiss to Galadriel is his message to Galadriel is that he does not love Galadriel any the less, by refusing to save his dearest friend's life. In the 1st episode, in Season 1, Elrond said that Galadriel was conflicted and here is Elrond suffering a deep conflict - saving Galadriel's life verses trying to save Eregion and her Elven inhabitants.

You literally know nothing of how Elves work in Tolkien's works. Heightened emotions? No. In fact, the opposite is true. Everything you said is nonsense you got from other works.
