Terence Dougherty, COO of the ACLU, testified during the defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard about the op-ed Heard wrote for the Washington Post, which is the center of the lawsuit the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor filed against his ex-wife. Dougherty was questioned about multiple emails between Heard and the ACLU showing the ACLU lawyers helped to review the draft and at one point discussed a desire from Heard to re-add Depp's name to the op-ed regarding her filing a temporary restraining order, which had previously been removed by her lawyers. Depp was not named in the op-ed but still filed the lawsuit because of the piece.
