Really nicely played, as usual. I got my cosmos this week and reading through the manual they said that the stereo input is useless since the l and r get split and played at different times, that makes me wonder how this piece would’ve been if the reverb had been after cosmos in the chain, or even with the delay…

Great ambient piece. That high synth riff sound was great and brought back the Vangelis vibes in a huge way. The Perfourmer sounds amazing. How does it compare to the Deckards Dream (I or II)? It seems like it has the same warm tones to it. Thanks for sharing again!
@JayHosking

The Deckard's definitely has a different quality to it, a little thinner (in the good way) and more fizz and flexibility in overall sound. And thanks!

Hi! I love your videos! I have a question for you about the golden reverberator, if you have a second. When fully wet, does it actually keep the stereo signal that you send into it completely separate on the left and right? (I mean specifically for use on something like the cosmos, adding reverb without changing the stereo image that it’s creating.) Thanks!
@JayHosking
Жыл бұрын
Hey thanks! Sorry I'm just seeing this now. I don't have the Golden on hand at the moment, but most stereo reverbs will have some deliberate smearing from left to right, and I'm pretty sure Golden is no exception.

wow, beautiful stuff! "a musical diary of the time they were created." I like that, thats how music making is for me often aswell. So the cosmos is constantly recording in this video? is this the original firmware? could you elaborate a bit on what you mean with firstpass in reverse (how do you do that on cosmos)?
@JayHosking
2 жыл бұрын
Original firmware, Cosmos records until somewhere around 5:20. I guessed when the first loop was about to be over and hit the reverse button, but then never touched it again. And thanks!

So good! Can I ask, what modes do you have selected for the reverb, delay and cosmos? Also, what is the order of those pedals? Thanks :)
@JayHosking

Reverb is a hall, and it's a modulated tape delay, if I remember correctly. Cosmos is just in its standard firmware with its dials as seen from the top-down shot. And thanks!

Definitely keeping the Cosmos. If I didn't try to do different things here all the time, I would just be making ambient ramblings with the Cosmos in the centre of it. I'm not sure it's suitable for anything else, though.

Hey jay what’s an affordable sequencer for a beginner?
@JayHosking
2 жыл бұрын
Cheapest is definitely your computer/DAW. From there, either the Launchpad Pro Mk3 or Circuit Tracks are amazing places to start. Circuit Tracks also gives you drums and a couple of synths. From there, I'd consider an Elektron (Digitakt or Octatrack), and then up to dedicated sequencers lime the Hapax. Best of luck!

Really nice, Jay. Still digging the Perfourmer? I'll likely have to pull the trigger on one finally. Also, how's the brain business treating you?
@JayHosking
Жыл бұрын
The Perfourmer is great if you want those clean tones of a single oscillator, or if you want to stack up a big stereo monophonic synth. I think a couple of small things would have made a big difference in making it a more useful polysynth (e.g. a master filter knob) but it's super cool. Reminds me a lot of the Matriarch, although I like the sound of the Matriarch a little better and like the true polyphony of the Perfourmer. And the brain business is great, thanks!
