I've been looking for books similar to Sarah Addison Allen, and Love Sugar Magic sounds great!

I haven't read that author but if you want a fun, sweet, magical middle grade novel, love sugar magic is such a joy!

Yes. Spooky reads go hand in hand with October. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Frankenstein. I selected a "modern classic", Clive Barker's Hellbound Heart. Also 2 books that I picked up from the authors @ a horror convention - Live Specimens by Kelli Owen (meh - I finished this one) & Children of the Dark by Johnathan Janz (this is pretty good about 2/3 in). I also have Foe by Iain Reid, Doctor Sleep & probably something on my Kindle -hahaha. I'll see what I can get to. I hope you have Ghoulish Halloween! Cheers!

@@TReadsBooks Thank you ♥ Hellbound Heart (1986) is the basis for the film Hellraiser. Which is also spooky. Will you be Nonfiction November-ing?

I have had a pretty good reading month, having finished Firestarter by Stephen King, They Called Us Enemy by George Takei, 45 Plays for 45 Presidents, and I am currently reading a work of horror in Your Heart Belongs To Me by Dean Koontz. I have reviews set up for the first two, filmed one for the third, and will film one for the Koontz book when I am done. Your selections are quite fitting as well, specifically the ones you define as being "spooky." I read Frankenstein earlier in the decade and I thought it was a good book that I would like to revisit and reexamine. The Crucible was a really good play! I like how Arthur Miller brings a great deal of light to the issue at hand and not only compares it to his current issue of McCarthyism, but also brings light to the idea of uninformed finger-pointing under uninformed circumstances that have the ability to get heated. Thank you for sharing and I hope you get most or all of your selections finished! -Josh

it sounds like your october has been super productive so far, Josh! I wish, haha! I'm super excited to get into the crucible in particular; I don't know if I'll pick up on all of the symbolism and thematic elements but I hope to at least enjoy it! :)

Adam’s book cover and title still make me laugh. You’ll have to let me know how the book is! I’ve been tackling IT this month, it’s 1100 pages and I’m 400 pages in. I love it. But I also feel like some of it could have been edited out? It’s just so long! I also read the 7 1/2 deaths of Evelyn hardcastle for one book club and I’m reading practical magic for another.

lolol whenever I see a book over maybe 700 pages I automatically feel like maybe it could've been edited. but I applaud you for going for it!

I'm starting Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. Any advice?

sorry to be so unhelpful, but I'm not a huge philosophy person and I don't have much experience reading it! if I was reading it I would consider reading it alongside something like a study guide to make sure that you're getting the most out of it.

Aww I’ve heard great things about Love sugar magic!! Middle grade is not really my genre but I honestly want to read it :) plus, any book with food has already bonus points for me :P I had a spooky tbr too (WILL I MAKE A VIDEO ABOUT IT AT THE END OF OCTOBER?! OH BUT OF COURSE XD) and for now I listened to one audiobook and read The strange library by Murakami and all of that is already a huge accomplishment 😝
