My kids are 6, 4, and 2 as well and we are also starting AO year 2! This is neat that you redo their schedule, I've never been able to find a planner that I like so always do a bullet journal page for each week! Neat to see another family so similar to us! Have a great year! Thanks for the video!

Awesome! I’ve never had the patience for bullet journaling. well I always want it to be nice and pretty like i see on Pinterest and I feel I don’t have the time and then don’t want to mess it up so it never happens. I’d rather just recreate something already there i guess. Haha!

Thank you for this! I like the idea of adding the check boxes to the schedule for the daily work! I have played around with so many different planner types but always customized the weekly schedule printed the weekly schedule too. Every year I find myself checking off the main subjects each week but it was lacking the dailies. Why didn’t I think of that!? 😂

Love AO. Finishing up our 4th year. :) I use the charts in a similar way. Very helpful video for those who are new. 😀

Thank you for this! It was sooo helpful! Do you follow AO’s schedule and CC’s schedule pretty closely? Or do you try to adjust so they’re more online with each other? (Example… trying to do ancient history from both?)

I’m so glad to hear that. And no I don’t try to align them at all. That would be really difficult. So CC is the one that is disjointed in regards to history. (Naturally, just because it covers a long time span in a few short weeks) but our AO readings cover the timeline of history more slowly and in depth. So as we follow the AO readings, we naturally hit a memory peg for history and refer to our CC history songs that correlate. It happens over time so it’s not like everyday we come upon a correlating history memory sentence but everyday we do review our week’s cc history song whether or not it correlates. Hope that makes sense!

@@sharayahmauricehomeschools Thank you! I have been wresting with how to combine them and still at least roughly follow a CM method, but I was losing my mind. I never thought of NOT trying to line them up but still using them together, but when I watched your video I realized that probably could be an option! I think you saved my sanity in trying to finish planning this coming school year. :) :) :)

Thanks for the video and info! Does AO have the pictures for the picture study that you print off, that you were discussing?

Do you have a specific curriculum or reference for your character study?

I’m kinda making it up as I go. I started with A Child’s Book of Character Building by Ron and Rebekah Coriell. Here’s the link- amzn.to/3DztpcB And we love it! Then I’ve added Advice to the Young by Noah Webster (Public domain) the moral catechism part and that’s been really good too. We just talk about it, memorize the definition, and work on the trait throughout the month.

Does it tell you what to read in the book? Do you read the whole book? Shakespeare!?!
@sharayahmauricehomeschools

Yes there’s a weekly reading schedule. They don’t break it down for you day by day to allow for each family and their unique schedule, but I always say, it’s not as much as it seems. And yes, we read the whole book. Be it over the whole year, the term, or even in a few weeks. And yes! Shakespeare! I’m not following AO precisely on that though… we’re reading about Shakespeare first. Then we’ll read adaptations of a few plays, then listen to the actual plays. So basically we’re easing in to it 😉

Where do you find the adaptations or easier versions of Shakespeare?
