Great song. Yalding is still a lovely little village. The two brewers ain’t there no more....been turned into a house. Still got the pub on the river which used to be the ‘anchor’ but now refurbished and called something else. Went on a drive 3 years ago, set off from back of Collier st, stopped at a pub in paddock wood....then onto the anchor. No word of a lie......must have been 30 or more horse and carts. Some singles...some twins and some carrying four. Pulled up at the anchor and filled the pub! What a day it was. The paddock wood pub welcomed us ,no problem at all...made us feel welcome. Nice people. Got turned away from one pub. When we pulled up and filled the car park and the road they had some ‘polite’ excuse! Oh well.....on to the anchor at yalding. A bit of racing and offers on me horse😂. Nice to be accepted by the John brunt (paddock wood) and the anchor at yalding. Me, Reuben and Levi had a good days drive. 👏

@@danielray6689 I've never heard of a 'Fred Butcher' from around here bruv (Yalding). Plenty of Freds, but no Butchers...? I was born here in the 1960's and I'm still here now. But that doesn't mean your wrong about what you say cos I don't know the origin of the song myself. I used to go to the 'Two Brewers' when I was a young lad. On the other side of the Yaldings Lees, there's another pun that used to be called 'The Anchor'. The Anchor is still there, but it's not the pub it used to be back in the day. It's been redeveloped into a family friendly food pub, and renamed. The Anchor was the best pub in Yalding at one time. Full of travellers, and during the summer months it was packed with Londoners who used to camp on the Lees for their summer holidays. A local fella got his head blown off in the Anchor many years ago. He was having a late drink in there one night when two fellas burst in armed with a shotgun. His murder is still unsolved to this day. If you're interested, Google something like "Stan Gordan Nichols Yalding murder 1994". Sad story. The old bill never had a clue why/ who done him. His brother was deeply affected by the loss, and some years later he ended up topping himself. A infamous east London face called Danny Woolard used to spend a lot of time in Yalding when he was a young lad. Him and his family knew all the travellers from around this way. Danny used to come down from London and got involved in bare knuckle fights on Yalding Lees. I'm going back to the 50's and 60's. Danny's dead now, but he wrote a book called "WE DARED" that you can get on a free pdf download if you fancy a read..? It's a good story about his life. The Yalding Lees and a lot of the well known travellers from around here are mentioned in many of the stories in his book. 🤝👍

@@levitaylor9243 ahoiittt Levi. Small world bruv. I was born n bred in Coxheath originally. Without a shadow of doubt Levi, depending on your age, me and you will know a fair few of the same people. From where my place is now, I'm less than a 10 min drive from Yalding. It's a shame the Anchor was refurbished and turned into a foodie pub. The Anchor was a good boozer back in the day. Londoners and travellers were always welcome in the Anchor. We made the Anchor our last port of call when we went on a drive a few years back. We all met up at a fellas place in Paddock Wood one morning, and we set off in a huge convoy through the back lanes. We tied the horses up at a couple of boozers on route and sank a few beers. There was easily 30+ horses and carts. Plus motors tagging along. By the time we got to the Anchor by mid afternoon, most of us were gattered bruv😁🍺! You couldn't move for horses tied to the railings etc outside the Anchor. More and more others joined the convoy as the day went on. Cheers for your reply Levi. Nice to know that someone else also knows Yalding. A beautiful village bruv. 🤝💪😊👍
