"Ambuyat" is a type of food created from "sago", also known as palm starch. It is a source of starch similar to that from tapioca or potatoes. Ambuyat is not just popular in Brunei, but also in Malaysia and Indonesia where it is also known as "linut".
Ambuyat is eaten with a wooden fork known as "candas", where you have to twist the starchy substance around until it sticks to the fork and then dip into a variety of sauces and curries.
As well as trying this traditional food, we also had time to visit the Water Village, known as "Kampung Ayer", which is a whole village built on stilts above the River Brunei.
A thousand thanks to Hadi from Fasting Bro ( / @fastingbro | / fastingbro ) and Jeera ( / jeeradoesfashion ) for being our hosts throughout our stay in Brunei.
With good luck and fortune, Destinasi TV will be back in Brunei for more episodes in the near future!
