im builing an AMC 360 for a 68 javelin i picked up, im going to eliminate the oil filter bypass, by taping and threading to 1/4 pipe thread and installing a plug into the steel plate that holds the bypass valve then remove the spring and carbon fiber disc, that results 100% filtration. ive done this on most engines ive built.over the last 25 years as a result youll notice a pressure drop if you allow the filter to clog up. upon an oil change youll also realize pressure is back to normall. the filter bypass is esentially for people that neglect oil changes, although absolutely neccessary for racing engines. good video, thanks for your input

If you change the filter and oil regularly should never relieve the pressure.

I was taught to move the part in a figure of 8, to even the "sanding" process.

i like the plastigauge suggestion. I've always measured pump end clearance with a straightedge and feeler gauge like many of the TSMs suggest. Joe

I've used Emory ot wet or dry paper for years works better than lapping compound

It was a Melling kit. You can see the box on the bench.
