I got one question with this video, why there's much models got HDR support but don't got the Freesync Premium Pro certified? For example the 240Hz XV272U X. Is there they need to paid the money for that, or just need even higher brightness? Or some extra requirement there.
@TotallydubbedHD
3 жыл бұрын
Good question! Not sure about that particular model - does it have a FreeSync module in it at all? Maybe they just haven't got the rights and/or bothered to add the certification, lol! Shouldn't be to do with brightness, from my understanding plus research and confirmation with AOC's tech arm - that certification doesn't require a set brightness level to achieve that certification (if that makes sense?).

Why many models got HDR but don't get Freesync premium pro certified? maybe their panel HDR is just tone mapping or it's panel 8bits+FRC (Fake 10bits) or 6bits+FRC (Fake 8bits) The problem is A. Some monitor own separate features like Tone Mapping (HDR), Audio Decoding (Dolby), and Dynamic Range (VRR). Both algorithms are different they can fight each other the result is creating delay and more input lag. B. Some Monitors can do HDR and VRR at the same time but Dolby must turn it off cause dobly is a separate feature, can break the logarithm. C. Some monitor can handle HDR + VRR + Audio Decoding at the same time, Monitor doesn't do anything it just linear displaying cause both a logarithm is processed by Computer/System (GPU itself) let me Explain: 1. Minimum refresh rate: TN panel = 30 Hertz IPS panel = 48 Hertz OLED panel = 40 Hertz 2. Certification of Freesync *FREESYNC* The lower tier or old Freesync cap max framerate @ 60 Hertz or 75 Hertz, (same in the video) (HDMI & Display Port), mostly don't support HDR and Dolby turn on at same time. *FREESYNC PREMIUM/G-SYNC COMPATIBLE* Its VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) sometimes called Adaptive sync, ranges from 40-144 depending on the panel by factories. [AMD support all HDMI and Display Port] [NVIDIA just 1 port, Display Port or HDMI mostly Display Port] Please check in AMD or NVIDIA website monitor support list to understand which is the specific port requirement to activate the VRR. some monitor may not works when HDR is turning on. *FREESYNC PREMIUM PRO* Same as Freesync Premium but got LFC (Low Framerate Compensation). Trick duplicating frame when the fps is lower than VRR range. Let's said the display 48-144 Hertz then FPS drops lower than the VRR range so the monitor tells the GPU to duplicate the frame then combined with the algorithm to maintain closest to the minimum VRR range, the result more FPS gains. (Only RX-5000 & RX-6000 at this time) Premium pro can use HDR + VRR + Dolby at the same time cause the algorithm handle by PC/Computer, Monitor/TV just linear displaying content (I said twice 😅) 3. Wire length, too far can cause loss of signals. - HDMI, max wire length is 10 meters up to 15 meters for *_Full Bandwidth._* Please check your monitor HDMI implementation, Version 1.4a/1.4b/2.0a/2.0b/2.1 they are different maximum wire length. - Display Port, max wire length is no more than 3 meters for *_Full Bandwith._* Please check your monitor Display Port Implementation 1.4/1.4a/2.0 they are different features. Hope it can help you before picking random stuff and breaking your wallet for nothing cause of the lack of knowledge.

@@TotallydubbedHD Yep hard to clarify. I learn just 3 days at rest. The Call center couldn't give me the right answer. GtG & MPRT from blurbuster com, HDMI & Display Port from Wikipedia and some articles about version and wire length, LFC, Variable Overdrive, G-Sync, G-Sync Ultimate, G-Sync Compatible, Freesync certified, and finding reviews and spec about port implementation by model (mostly just shown marketing biases HDMI and Display port without describing which the right version) In my honest opinion just get panel Freesync Premium Pro certification, it got LFC, can utilize HDMI & Display Port both Radeon and Nvidia GPU, support HDR without breaking algorithms.

Well the FreeSync differences were explained in this video; as for what's better than the other - not tried the LG, so can't comment, but if it has a G-Sync compatibility it means it's 'certified' by Nvidia to at the very least operate. @TotallydubbedHD
2 жыл бұрын
You will still be able to utilise VRR technology with an Nvidia GPU (namely a 3-series card) with the G7, despite it not housing a G-Sync module. Thus, you don't NEED an AMD GPU, it just would ensure VRR works in any modes of connectivity; whereas with the NV GPU, you'll want to be connected over DP in order to enjoy tear-free gaming. Hope that makes sense? And yes, both those GPUs, on paper, seem a good fit for the G7 (in terms of raw GPU power for 1440p at 240hz)

One has a dedicated gsync module at $1,999 and the other is just gsync compatible with Freesync Pro and HDMI 2.1. It is also $1,799 and comes out sooner. I always use Nvidia GPUs but I’m thinking I might go with the X32 FP. Not having the dedicated gsync module won’t affect the image quality and peak brightness right?
