The Military recruiting crisis has many different causes, No. 1 on my list is abuse of the junior enlisted. Fort Cavazos is the worst post. Extreme politics dominate this post from the civilian workers to the military. This has caused the post to have the highest suicide rate in the Army. The Marine Corp has a 34.9 per 100,000. This is due to poor leadership and poor command climates. This is why we as veterans say no to our younger generation. Stay away to protect your personal safety and mental health. Spent 27 years active duty Army. Afghanistan, Iraq and Bosnia. No regrets. That was prior to the current administration. All must remember one very big concept that will always apply: The military is a graphic representation of the the Country and it's leadership. That said... No way on Earth would I recommend anyone enlist in today's armed forces. Poorly led. Disenfranchised. Low Morale. Woke. Patriotism is near absent in America. So why would any mother or farther or veteran persuade their loved ones to serve. NO WAY!

I joined in '08 and I was overweight when I first stepped into the recruiters. They had a "Future soldiers" program. Basically I went to the recruiting station and did PT until I met the Height and Weight standards. Then they shipped me off to OSUT as an E3. I loved my recruiters man!

@@jesterapp Sounds like someone lucked out. The recruiter I dealt with showed up at my residence unannounced, and gave me a copy of the Kansas City Football Diet. It consisted of 3 hard-boiled eggs, with tomatoes or spinach, with coffee or tea, 3 times a day, and lose 20 lbs in 2 weeks. All that would do, is mount me on the throne for 2 weeks.

They said I couldn’t joined because I had medical problems that they found on my medical record but I never been diagnosed with any of them. I fought for an entire year going to doctors all over my state and they still denied me. Absolutely waste of time and I don’t have any respect for them anymore. They let all these over weight 5’5” nerds in but I’m tall and I’ve been running track/field my entire life and they don’t choose me and I got a good ASVAB score and everything. Ridiculous

All-volunteer professional militaries eventually become extensions of the political bureaucracy. The line between the military and the federal government has been slowly blurring for 50 years now, and now the two are virtually indistinguishable. People will only fight for what gives them pride and purpose, and there's little of both to be found in the military and the government it is sworn to protect.

To retain military personnel, they should now be considered full, federal employees, with the same benefits & fed. grades! They should get 'overtime' or 'comp time' for any work past 40 hours a week! They, like any other federal employee, should become 'vested', after 10 yrs. of service & eligible for a partial pension, at retirement age! Until now, service personnel were considered little more than "indentured servants"! This practice must end, to retain them!

This can basically be summed up as "The consequences of my own actions"
Right, I think majority of modern day men going into a regular trade school would be way much better option than risking it for the government who doesn’t really care about none of their service members who are even currently enlisted in the military or who was even injured from prior military service, because 1) in a trade school they most likely don’t care if you’ve taken ADHD medicine when you were 12 years old & you most likely wouldn’t be disqualified for getting into a trade like mechanics or telephone line installing rather than you would if you were entering meps with the record that you’ve taken anxiety medicine when you were 11 years old & don’t forget you’ll most likely need multiple waivers if you were a troubled kid like most people who grew up throughout america, & 2) A regular modern day & high demand trade job would most likely pay you much more than the minimum wage that the military jobs carry & offer & Once you leave your 2 year trade school with your desired certification, license, or diploma, Thats a guaranteed job you’re going to find in the civilian career field unlike the military where employment is still difficult for prior service members who complete their contracts, Yea don’t fall for scams kids
