@@user-db6pt7vr3l I would strongly disagree that “we survived nicely without him”. About 58,000 young American boys (average age 19) DID NOT SURVIVE without Kennedy. Under Kennedy, no American troops were in combat in Vietnam. Kennedy did not want the US involved in combat missions in Vietnam. In an interview in 1963, Kennedy said, “Any war in Vietnam is going to have to fought and won by the Vietnamese themselves.” In fact, in October 1963, Kennedy signed an Executive Order (NSAM 263) that called for a withdrawal of 1,000 US troops from Vietnam by December 31, 1963, followed by a complete and total withdrawal of all US troops from Vietnam by December 31, 1965. On the day after Kennedy’s funeral, on November 26, 1963, Johnson signed NSAM 273 which effectively reversed Kennedy’s Order, and for all intents and purposes, the Vietnam War with US involvement was born. Then in March 1965, Johnson ordered US Marines Into full combat mode in Vietnam. JOHNSON THEN LIED TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ABOUT THE GULF OF TONKIN INCIDENT in order to justify an escalation. By 1968, Johnson had over 500,000 American boys fighting in Vietnam. Who is less moral? The man who cheats on his wife or the men who send 58,000 American teenagers to their premature deaths (Nixon was part of it too). The way you feel about men who cheat on their wives, I’m guessing you must really despise Donald Trump who cheated on all 3 of his wives. Trump even cheated on Melania with Stormy Daniels while Melania was pregnant with their son Barron. Now that’s pretty slimy really.

@@user-db6pt7vr3l You say, “We survived nicely without him.” It would be better to say, “We survived nicely WITH him.” Most, if not all, of us alive today should thank President Kennedy for his brilliant handling of the Cuban Missile Crisis in October 1962 which truly could have led to the end of the world. Most of the generals along with hawkish conservatives were strongly pressuring Kennedy to either bomb or invade Cuba. But Kennedy knew that such action could very well lead to all-out nuclear war with the USSR and the end of the human race. So Kennedy ordered a naval blockade, and it worked. Behind the scenes, Kennedy and Khrushchev worked out a deal wherein the Soviets would withdraw their missiles from Cuba if the US would withdraw its missiles from Turkey and Italy. Kennedy not only made your current life possible, he made the lives of your children and grandchildren possible as well. It was due to the absolutely RECKLESS behavior by a rogue CIA that was trying to operate as its own shadow government with its own foreign policy objectives that led to the CMC in the first place. Kennedy made a big mistake when he very reluctantly approved the Bay of Pigs invasion. Kennedy never liked the idea, but caved to pressure as a new president. It turned out to be a huge fiasco. The CIA thought they were in charge rather than the POTUS. Even Eisenhower knew the CIA was out of control as he warned America of “the growing menace of the military industrial complex” of which the CIA was part.

@@brunokirchensittenbach9294 The Vietnam War is known as “Johnson’s War”. PRESIDENT KENNEDY INHERITED US TROOPS IN VIETNAM FROM PRESIDENT EISENHOWER. US Troops were already there when Kennedy took office. However, under both Eisenhower and Kennedy, US Troops were there in an ADVISORY ROLE. US Troops were not fighting in Vietnam under Kennedy. In fact, in October 1963, Kennedy signed NSAM 263 which called for a FULL WITHDRAWAL of ALL US Troops from Vietnam by December 31, 1965. The CIA and the US military wanted a long, moneymaking war in Vietnam with US Troops in combat, but they knew Kennedy was NOT going to give them that war. So they decided to take down Kennedy. Johnson reversed Kennedy’s Executive Order on the day after Kennedy’s funeral on November 26, 1963. It was in March 1965 that Johnson ordered US Troops (Marines) Into combat for the first time in Vietnam. My mother was going to take me to see him as that was my birthday. The events during his administration and the sad end have made a lasting impression and impact on me, even to this day. He gave hope to a world and a nation coming off WWII. He instilled people with his words, actions and humanity. Since Lincoln 100 years prior, we have not seen a president that had the fate of the nation in their singular hands, and survival was achieved by their singular actions. Their orator skills are not surpassed even to this day by none. His assassination, events following and the continued conspiracy surrounding, sent America down a path that we have still not recovered from, and are still suffering the consequences. There has not been a president since Kennedy that has been as qualified and has had the ability to act as a world leader. From JFK, a huge step down with LBJ to rock bottom with Trump. People ask how did we get to the horrible place we find America today. Just one day in history ended it all, and any hope for redemption was lost on June 8, 1968. Rest in Peace John F. This film is fine for what it is intended to do. It's like a highlight reel of JFK's early life and political career. It isn't a serious documentary though because it speaks little about his flaws and serious shortcomings. At one point, one of the men who worked in his administration describes JFK's relationship with VP Johnson as very cordial with much camaraderie. This is a blatant lie--Johnson hated the Kennedys, especially Attorney General Robert yet he wasn't crazy about the President either--and they weren't crazy about him, especially Robert.

in the '60's there was a young actor named Micheal Sarrazzin . I see these films from that era ,'50's-'60's, I realize Sarazzin could've played JFK in a serious bio-pic. very similar looks, and able to act.

Dean Rusk, in those interview clips shown here, seems so suave and rational; he was not really that. He was the man who intransigently defended our misguided policy in Vietnam, even after he left office. He was estranged from one of his sons for a long time because of this. Ironically, this son helped Rusk with his memoirs after the former Secretary of State went blind.

Rusk was exceptionally articulate, always. He was very good in interviews and in Congressional testimony, but was not always wise in counsel.

This documentary is old made in the 1970's and yet we don't know anything more now than we did then. Those who killed Kennedy knew this was going to cause a major uproar with shock, disbelief and bitter anger around the world but they did it anyway. It was business!

This was television fare for the 20th anniversary of the JFK assassination. This is when I remember seeing this, all or in part, for the first and last time until now. And so it also was in the USA, going by the commercials. This has the 1 mullion dollar bequest, the carpetbagger jibe with the PT boat in the South Pacific comeback, and the undressing in someone's car from aversion to being rain-soaked.

JFK was one of the greatest Americans. He was in extreme pain most of the time. I have read a detailed account of the PT109 incident. He should have received the Congressional Medal of Honor. Today he would be considered far right. I believe no one could ever top him. Reagan came close. Johnson was a complete failure intelluactually and personally.

His was far more a victory of Style over Substance, but you can never tell that to people who see him as "St. JFK." Yes, he solved the Cuban missile crisis, but he also caused it. Yes, he was rethinking the US role in Vietnam, but only after he initiated the sending of thousands of US soldiers there (while also toppling the South Vietnamese Diem government).

He was correct about Vietnam. He said to Walter Kronkite something to the effect that the USA can only do so much and it was otherwise up to the Vietnamese.

Even though President Kennedy died a few months before I was born, if I had to choose, he would be my choice for the best President! For many reasons but not because I’m a Democrat because I belong to no party! I liked him because he stuck his neck out for certain things like going to the moon, which we did and I doubt that we would have if he hadn’t made that speech at “Rice stadium!” Also, when he was running for president, he was asked if he was elected what would he do about “Cuba?” He said that he thought the current administration was doing a good job! That administration was the Republican President, Eisenhower! WOW! Try and get, in our current climate, a person running for president to say “anything” positive about an administration that they are running against! I suggest that it would be nearly impossible! Listen to his other speeches and notice that there’s very little “hate” but a lot of “positive!” Thanks …

Please listen to President Kennedy from 1:05:40 onward, and think hard about what he was says. This section, when he says Americans are free to disagree with the law but not to disobey it, that no man, however prominent, and bo mob, no matter how unruly, is entitled to defy the law has never been more important to hear and to heed than now, amidst the current conflict at the dawn of the 2024 elections. Please and thank you. [An aside? I was not a Democrat and did not vote for him, but his words rang as true to me then as they do now.]

If you are so smart, tell me who drove Oswald to the Rifle range. This decries that he was not a good shot. People on the range saw his targets, all bulllseyes. He even shot some of their targets. One of them went to Oswald and told him to stop firing at his targets. He said if he knew who Oswald was he would have never have done that. You say it is false that Oswald was not well liked and was president of his class. All my research said the opposite. If he was truant for 42 days my research said more, then he could not have been president and the school would not have permitted it. Oswald's Uncle was a lieutenant for Marcello. His testimony at one of the commissions was a nothing. They never grilled him about his activities with Marcello. My Uncle knew Marcello. He knew everyone in New Orleans. My father knew Jim Garrison. A fellow who worked for him was best friends with Jim Garrison. The whole Jim Garrison affair was a big nothing. The man had some loose screws. I was not able to contact the fellow who worked for my father about Garrison. As a five and six-year-old, I had gone fishing with him many time. He was a Cajun. After one hurricane, he could not be reached for months. Finally, my father reached him, and he said: "I made out fine, Ve make do in the Bayous." NISO's job was to track Oswald, not Marina which the FBI wanted to follow. NISO never had a clue where he was. Their 300 operational file was missing with all his records in it. Imagine that. They claimed they were understaffed. NISO has always said that and chasing around petty crimes by Sailors. In the 80's it was busting sailors for drugs in their lockers. Did you ever go to the Fairgrounds? That was a hangout, and Cheta's Bar backing up to the Fairgrounds was one of the gambling operations that my Uncle Dick went to regularly. He was an ambulance chaser. Slot machines were all over town. I went to Cheta's with him a couple times one of his favorite hangouts. He played the horses there and was paid out immediately. Outside the bar's back door was a little area with a platform. One of the workers would go out after every race with binoculars and check the results on the racing board and come back in with the results. I lived in New Orleans but moved when I was six. So, I missed out on all the fun. At the Mardi Gras, I caught some candy that Hopalong Cassidy riding on his horse threw to me. I was in heaven. I still remember it. See Dealey Plaza - The End of Camelot.

He couldn't shame Jackie on the world scale with leaked pics. But they don't tell you the medication JFK was on had been highly known to increase libido. Jackie knew and knew he would always return to her and their beloved children, and JFK had stopped that behavior at least a year before his murder.
