@Pluralofvinylisvinyls It wasn't scripted. I have first hand knowledge of his this show specifically operated. Every contestant went through anywhere from 5 to 10 phases before. Leading them to obviously believe they had talent before hand. That's why you get the outrageous responses because they were set up. Not scripted. It's why all these shows have a sob story now instead of genuinely exploiting delusional people for a comedic factor.

Yall are just as tone-deaf as he is if you think that was even decent. lol. The problem is none of these people have ever been told "no". Let's make sure that kids have something to feel good about.I'm sure there is something in each one that can be developed to be better regardless of how far they can go with it.There's several things that I can do that is decent and I'm glad I'm capable of it.However,there are people who are very much better than me and some not quite as good.I enjoy doing them anyway,but I won't go on national TV to embarrass myself with it.

Why don't they say "you're way way way off key"? Like it's really obvious and clear and should be constructive honest criticism- even if it is still negative. They/Simon just says things like "you can't sing", but specifically they are tone deaf or otherwise cannot hit keys.

Narcissism tends to embarrass people. Especially when it reaches the deluded stage. People seriously believe whatever they think to be true. I truly can't believe people walk in there thinking they can sing. I love how it all crashes down as it reflects on them when Simon vivisects their performance.

I like to encourage people to be musicians, but the people around these people need to tell them the truth so they don't go on tv and embarrass themselves.

@@andrewcrich8474 Exactly. There is no shortage of people who seem to be born without the ability to see (or hear) themselves in any other way than their idealized self. They just can't. And I must say, it's a gift! How great that they are, obviously, being chosen to audition for just that reason. The incredibly generic/derivative performers who do end up passing the audition, are boring af. We need more of these failed auditions. May they never stop.
