I too love the buzzsaw engine sounds. Even the A320s had that glorious note to them. Still love, above all, the TF-39s on the C-5 A & B Galaxies.

One of the biggest complaints is the buzzsaw drone of the engines. Proud to have worked on the 777 program from it's start in 1990 to 2005 at Boeing.

777-200LR, 777-300ER 777-300LR feature sort of suppressed roar, bigger engines with that fluity sound at engine rear. 787 dreamliners too feature the same with a little more suppression of the sound.

Gee, I didn't realize that CLT has 40,000 foot long runways now. And lots of them- way more than when I lived there. 🤨 Plenty of parking, too. Maybe just make the entire state of NC one giant airport? Just cut down all the trees and make it runways and parking lots...it'll be so great! 🙄🙄

Luckily planes don't use takeoff and climb thrust for the entire duration of the flight

Once they’re at cruising altitude, they throttle the engines back more, the fans slow below the speed of sound, and the buzz saw sound from the fan blade tips breaking the sound barrier disappears. At that point you just hear a quiet roaring sound of the jet exhaust and the air flowing around the plane. I love flying in those big jets.

@robertwilliamson6121

@@j.t.cooper2963 Yeah, but the buzz saw sound only lasts until they are at cruising altitude, and then they throttle back to partial power for cruise. Then you just hear a mild roaring sound. Not a problem.

@@robertwilliamson6121 I worked at Boeing for 20 years, 1985 -2005. I worked on the 777 program from its start in 1990 until 2005, so unless you have noise cancelling headphones, even that "mild" roaring sound gets to be quite annoying to a lot of people. Especially on those long flights. And my point was that it's the biggest complaint most passengers have had about the 777 since it entered service.
