Love these vintage Dick Clark interviews! I also enjoy spotting things in the background, such as a glimpsing of 6 of the AB Top Ten hits: AMERICAN BANDSTAND TOP TEN 1. LOVE ME DO - THE BEATLES 2. MY GUY - MARY WELLS 3. RONNIE - FOUR SEASONS 4. BITS AND PIECES - DAVE CLARK FIVE 5. (JUST LIKE) ROMEO AND JULIET - THE REFLECTIONS 6. CHAPEL OF LOVE - DIXIE CUPS I'd wager this chart is from the late May - early June 1964 range. I wonder how much acting Nino Temple wound up doing? CHEERS!

They were the template for The Carpenters. It's a shame that not many younger people know about them. RIP, April

That was an interesting dynamic. Normally in a lot of brother/sister duos the brother is the senior partner with his younger sister. Here the roles were reversed. In fact, April fudged on her age claiming she was younger than what she was. Of course, she pretty much had to since a lot of the other female pop singers were considerably younger.

So I was curious why they needed to explain what a Grammy Award was, but then I did some research and I saw that the first Grammy ceremony was help in 1959. So it was still relatively new in 1964.

Strange that the Grammy was still such a relatively unknown thing in 1964
