So funny how he talks about the Beatles early days as if it was 20 years ago when 1964 was only 3 years earlier in 67, things had changing so fast from 64 to 67 its like going from the 1950 to 1970 in just 3 years

Awwww, tremendous goof by Mr. Clark! At 2:25 when he says "Ringo got on the phone...", that was actually George Harrison speaking! Still, a nice interview, which I remember watching. And I was one of those millions of viewers who tuned in the next week and saw what was an amazing visual transformation when Dick Clark presented The Beatles' new single (and promotional film) for "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Penny Lane". That was 50 years ago but still seems like "Yesterday!"

I don't think Dick did the interview with The Beatles. I think he's just reading the questions that were asked by someone else. I wouldn't be surprised if this interview was sent to radio stations everywhere and the DJ pretended like he was interviewing them live when he was just playing their taped responses.

Dick Clark never really did get The Beatles. They were a bit outside his slick packaged Philadelphia sound. He said in one interview that he watched their first appearance on the Sullivan show and decided they'd never do anything in America -- that they were just an average bar band. He then admitted he'd never been so wrong about anything in his life. lol no kidding!

Something tells me Dick Clark did not conduct the interview that prompted these answers. This seems like a TV version of those old "canned" interviews in which DJs were provided questions on a sheet of paper and cued a record for the answers.

I agree. These responses seemed like from other interviews

ABoxOfBroken8Tracks Yes, they are; those answers were taken from interviews from the British press(radio, TV).

You're probably right, ABoxOfBroken8Tracks... I mean, Mr. Dick Clark did interview the Beatles -- while the show was taken place... however, the Beatles had never appeared [in person / performed] on his show, at any time during their career.

If D.C. actually asked The Beatles these questions, why didn't he just play the entire audio tape with D.C's. recorded voice asking the questions along with it?

I wish you could just upload the entire shows (I know....you can't...) or show them on Antenna like they do with old Johnny Carson episodes...I mean......at some point - the monetary/licensing value will be NIL..so...might as well just entertain people .... ..
