These guys are from Florida. They were a band...and when The Beatles came to the US in Feb. 1964...they put on Beatles wigs and were kinda doing a take off on The Beatles in nightclubs...and then it kinda took off..it was just a joke. They were billed as the "American Beetles". They grew their hair...played gigs in the US...and did a tour of South America in July 1964...(I think). I actually saw them play in Massachusetts when I was a kid in 1964...

From Wikipedia: The Ardells was a band from West Palm Beach, Florida that had been together since 1959. They were originally The R-Dells (aka Ardells). Their name changed to The American Beetles in '64, and then The Razor's Edge in '66. They had one-off single as The Tones.

The guitars were implemented with wireless transmission technology that was very advanced for its time.
@joe6096
4 жыл бұрын
@@benthead No, they weren't. There were no wireless transmitters in 1964, the only thing hand-held and wireless at that time were military walkie-talkies. And they were still big. Heck in 1964 vacuum tube technology was still the main tech, solid state hadn't even caught on until the late 1960s. There would be massive transmitter battery packs clipped to their guitar straps around their backs and you can clearly see when they bow down and turn there are none. Wireless guitar transmitters weren't invented until around 1975. At that time they were huge, heavy, and required many batteries which were heavy and big. Even then they were about $4500 each. So even if they WERE around in 1964 I highly doubt the budget of even American Bandstand would prohibit $20,000 in wireless tech. That was probably the budget for the entire show at the time. The Stones were the first to use them on a full scale in their Some Girls tour in 1978. Today wireless transmitters are almost imperceptible in size due to technological advances but in 1975 they were massive.
