i watched this film with my late grandpa. That was probably 11 years ago. I remember the house we watched it at was really clean and smelled nice. The walls were very clean on the inside and outside. I went there with my mother who is my late grandpa's daughter. I think we were picking up some food to take back home. He asked me if I wanted to watch it too. I said yes and we just watched it together. My grandfather said at the end of the movie "Okay."

Parahis Japan bombed pearl harbor, which was also filled with regular people along with military. Japan bombed pearl harbor because we cut off trading ties with them.... and you are trying to say what we did to END a war that would of taken more lives than those two bombs took, is wrong? What we did, kept Japan from starting something that would of ended with much, much, much, more civilian death than what those bombs did. Sad? Hell yes, it is sinister, but on the other hand, they bombed a massive harbor due to being cut off from trade. Who REALLY is the bad guy in that situation? it never is civilians faults, but we as people need to realize what war does, and what it takes from us. Even the Japanese realized what they had done, was a huge mistake, after they suffered loss just as we had. What is the point of history books, movies, and other things, if we never learn from them? It seems gore in history is here for our entertainment, rather than a lesson to be learned from.

Didn't the photographer take a photo of the second flag raising not the first. which was just to replace the first one with a bigger one and also to preserve the first as an important piece of history?
@Boxman5618
8 жыл бұрын
Oh okay. But I read the book and remember the photographer being bummed he missed the chance and got the chance again with the replacement flag. Thus why he was pissed when stories by the media of a heroic battle taking place on the hill while the flag was being raised when in reality nothing really happened the second time.

When Paul Walker found out that Clint Eastwood is making a movie about Iwo Jima, he said to his agent that no matter the role, Walker wants in. Then he got the role of Hank Hansen (marine who raised that first flag)

This scene should be played prior to the National Anthem before football games, to remind people of the importance of our national symbols. If nothing else, it might shame some of those overgrown (and overpaid) children who take a knee. Who am I kidding, they have no shame.

@@joewhitehead3 It doesn't work that way. Emoting relentlessly doesn't win people into your side. Disrespecting national symbols goes even further, it pisses people off. If you want people to join your cause, the way to do it is by meeting them half way, and agreeing on the things you agree on. The American flag, and the National Anthem means a lot, to a lot of people. You have to give them something. That was too cocky a move. It was a fuck you statement.
