Does anyone realizes just how talented their bassist is? He deserves to be recongized more often. I thought he was lame af untill i realized.. He plays so Tight and solid but insanely colorful note choice. (He actually sat down and PUT THOUGHT IN TO THE BASSLINES. they are super simple yet so damn effective with his colorful note choices. He has insanely good technique. His left and right hands are both relaxed. His freting technuique is so stretched out comfortable an the neck and he is so proper that no. Notes sound so consistent. it kills No Fret buzz. No bad tone. His picking technuique is so proffesional and constistent which fixes some notes sticking out in the mix tone. Keepin mathy time signatures on the back of his hand.. when he has to keep time forstrange minor fills.. dynamics in note length and note onterval was very proffesional. A + for holding back. Great use of your diffrent picking dynamics. and picking lenghts Hes no flee but he is no averge .

Crazy this was recommended the same day I had been just thinking about when I saw Mike kinsella/Owen in a small club in SLC, UT back in 2005ish (i think). I went with a few of my good buddies. We had a band called pelvic nations 😂 and these guys influenced us a lot, particularly the unique guitar sound and the unconventional rhythms/riffs of American football, as well as capn jazz, owls, and Joan of Arc. Our two guitar players/lead singers would come up with cools riffs that would have strange time signatures and I didn’t know what to call it then but it would have probably been considered in the Math Rock genre. (The guitar players were brothers and also started another band called Cowboys Aren’t Indians that seems to have a faithful internet cult following. Look them up. Great stuff)

Imo foxing doesn't fit the mathrock definition the most. Tiny moving parts is definitely twinkle so they have math rocks roots and af basically evolved the subtler emo roots into Midwest emo revival from emotional hardcore music by incorporating some mathrock qualities with open tunings and some time sig changes. Cap n jazz are unarguably mathrock and that's the kinsela brothers so by association id say they are at least somewhat mathrock. Either way they are all good bands
