There are also some shops in Germany that are open 24/7. In addition, all restaurants (as well as McDonalds) are allowed to be open. Public toilets are not generally chargeable, if so, then it is only a few cents. Of course, there are air conditioners in German houses - and in many hotels. It's simply a question of cost-benefit ratio. If you stick to the speed limits, you have nothing to worry about. There are also certain tolerances (10%). Exceeding 15km/h and more will be expensive... If you are driving in the middle and left lanes on the German motorway, you have to be concentrated. But the Germans have an eye for distances and a very good sense of speed, so it's not a problem for them. Some rules and the cars, which are designed for higher speeds, make this even easier. Public toilets are not generally chargeable, if so, then it is only a few cents. PS: And you can certainly get bubble-free mineral water everywhere.

Paying for public restrooms makes sense. They need to be cleaned and maintained, and more public restrooms are being built. Most of the public restrooms I had to visit because, you know, urgency, were clean, had plenty of toilet paper, paper towels, and soap and warm water to wash your hands. And German toilet doors don't have huge gaps like in America. Some have a small gap at the bottom, but most of the doors are real doors you can close behind you and lock. And, here in Germany, we use cash very often, so it's most likely that you have a 50 cent or 1 euro coin in your wallet.

Same and funnily enough it's the stationary Blitzers you know are there which get you.

Ok these two are a bit over the top. First yes, there are "Blitzers" who take a picture and send it to you per mail and you have to pay for them if you are too fast. But they have a tolerance, so 4-5 miles more doesn't really trigger them. Also a few miles get substracted by their measurement in general, so if there is a 50km/h limit and you drive 55 nothing will happen. Also on the Autobahn - usual speed limits around cities are 80 or 100 or 120 - and they tell you in advance, you have enough time to slow down plus there are laws that a "Blitzer" can't be in the first 200m (I think so...) of the limit zone. Paying for bathrooms - well I prefer to pay 50 cent to 1 Euro for a clean, nice bathroom with closed stalls then bankrupt myself because of calling the ambulance ;) Also, not all public toilets charge you - in restaurants they are usually for free, it's more a thing in tourist areas and on rest stops at the Autobahn. Energy in Germany is pretty expensive, also normal homes are built out of stone so they are insulated pretty well. The few days in the year it is really hot, we just open the windows in the evening and the morning and keep them closed during the day. But nonetheless I appreciate your reaction as always - I like that you try to learn more about the world outside of the US :)

Isn't it strange that US-Americans whose service personnel depend on tips want to deny those who maintain toilets? I can't remember public bathrooms being a thing for decades; public toilets, yes; public bathrooms, no.

Non-Europeans don't get the speeding tickets. I worked for a rental company for a few years and with some rentals I could literally follow the customer's travel itinerary by checking on the tickets they received in Germany/ France/ Switzerland/ Austria..... hilarious. I've had my license for 25+ years, have commuted daily for years and have never received a single speeding ticket. 😂😂🤣 Depends on if you follow the rules or not 🤪

The Speed-Difference isn´t like described. You don´t have a Street with 120kmh that goes down to 30 kmh, that is not gonna happen. Blitzers are okay and most of them are useful, but ofc you still have a few that just there to collect money. To be fair, you will have no problem if you drive within the speedlimit :)

From Conner Sullivan I honor most "my sisters first day in Germany" (minute 1:30 to 19) and follow up videos. Blitz = flash = speed cameras: 1VaDude has for example a "Busted by Radar Camera". I would not describ the speed camera thing that dramatically as Conner did but it is a pain in the ass if you see the flash (fine needs up to 3 months to be in mail). No fine if you're inside the speed limit LOL. Usually traffic flows a bit above the limit. Not at places with stationary Blitzer because people know the places. But police has also mobile Blitzer in cars or on the side of streets. It's a pain since the minimum fine is 30 EUR. Speed fines in Germany are still quite cheap.
