The Alan! Alan! clip is funnier than it has any right to be and it cracks me up every time.

It's ironically based on Steve Coogan rehearsing to play Alan Partridge and saying "Alan, Alan, Alan," to himself over and over again. This adds another layer to "no wait, it's not Alan, it's Steve."

From what I can recall from way back in my much younger days, Boomy - the first man to actually start doing the animal voiceovers was Johnny Morris on a BBC kids programme called Animal Magic over here in the mid-1960's. A few decades later 2 series in 2009-2010, these ones are from Walk On The Wild Side mostly dubbed by UK comedians. The female Seal after the 2 fighting pups was Sarah Millican's voice . . . Other comments on here are correct though - you have to check out the 2 Seasons of Creature Comforts - even if you have to do them in bits with Queenie . . .

Went to a dentist once, besides him asking me questions while I had a mouth full of ironmongery... I also had his cocker spaniel humping my leg. The thing was, it was doing it very slowly while maintaining eye contact.

Best thing about the "Alan" sketch is that it's voiced by a guy called Jason Manford who is a (fellow) Man City fan. Shortly after this aired Man City were playing Ukrainian side Shaktar Donetsk in the Champions League and they had a Brazillian player who just called "Alan" (a common thing for Brazillians to go by one name). Anyway this guy comes on as a sub and 45k+ City fans all start chanting "Alan.. Alan.. Alan.. Al.. Al.. Alan..", and as this guy was based in Ukraine he had no idea why were doing that, and the look on the poor guys face was priceless.

The dentist sketch reminds me of the old fahioned Mens Barber's, of the 1950's, They would start personal conversations while cutting your hair ( Short back and Sides, mostly) They'd talk about any old crap--the weather , football etc, and aftewards it was , with lowered voice, ''Anything for the weekend Sir ?'' meaning, contraceptives.
