Pispers hat aufgegeben, weil er 30 Jahre lang versucht hat, die Bekloppten in Deutschland aufzuwecken! Für die Amis braucht es da schon so viel mehr, soviel gibt es nicht auf dem Planeten!

I'm absolutely impressed that you are really watching this, I guess not so many people from the US did that so far, but it could be helpful to overthink the role of the US in the world and why things are so difficult. It's not always the fault of the foreign country. Politics are dirty work and not everything is true what governments try to tell you. Well done so far!!

Hey bro, best regards and huge respect for actually choosing the absolute best of the best of our satirists to describe his view of the world/Realpolitik for you. Without wanting to judge or criticize you in any way, I have to tell you that the whole history of Iraq, Sadam Hussein, who was indeed a terrible dictator, who nevertheless was of some help from the West as a useful partner (idiot) for years . If you estimate everything roughly and take a quick look at what happened in the Middle East from the 1970s to the early 2000s (specifically, of course, the September 11, 2001 deadline), you know 1/2001, Bush's fabricated history that Sadam H., despite being a horrible bastard, was obsessed and intended to use weapons of mass destruction, was not only 100% a lie used as a pretext and justification for the American invasion of Iraq, but with the overthrow of Sadam, despite many Warnings from various politicians sparked an inferno that continues to this day. Namely, the destabilization of Iraq, which meant that the conflict between Shiites and Sunites, from Iran to Syria and Afghanistan to cruel proxy wars in Lebanon or Yemen, could only really grow and expand. What was also created by the US secret services is not only the years of arming Bin Laden and his Mujahideen, who were able to successfully defend themselves against the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, but also part of the tragic truth that they had a man to help them at the time , who was something of a go-between and informer for the US and one day, when he was no longer needed, was without warning defamed as a terrorist in the public media. The following answer and reaction of the man's name Unfortunately, Abū Musʿab az-Zarqāwī's was the founding and emergence of the IS!!!! This should not be an anti-USA fairy tale or digging out everything that speaks against them, just show as briefly as possible some important cornerstones and basics that are not guesses, conspiracy theories or stories, but some of the pure facts..

Volker Pispers was a Master of the satire craft and used German linguistic double meanings, allusions, subtle irony and neologisms which can hardly be translated. So despite the subtitles, I assume non-German speakers will only understand a very small part of it and will hardly “get“ him. It may take some getting used to (especially for Millennials :D ) but it surely increases the chances to understand him if you take your time while watching... pause, rewind, play, pause... Especially when he makes comparisons. ;)

You backed Saddam Hussein - and it"s even better. You also supported the regime change from the Shah to Khomeini. That is less well known, but if you have a close look the Iranian revolution started exactly after the Shah gave an interview to a british journalist, telling him firmly, that he wanted to use the Iranian oil more for themselves instead of donating it to the west. You could watch the journalist turning crazy in fear. Shortly after that the revolution started. A few years ago this whole interview was available on youtube, by now only fragments are left.

Back when I traveled the world, people in almost every country were critical about their own history of politics. Only 2 exceptions I noticed: In Australia and the USA there was more pride than self-criticism about the history of the country. In your experience from takling with inhabitants over the world: Is it different today?
Let's just say that what you're taught about the US in History classes and what the rest of the world is taught are two *very* different things!

Oh boy, you've picked a GREAT example of political cabaret/comedy, including a history lesson. If you ask yourself if he's exaggerating much for the sake of the joke: no he doesn't. What he tells is true. Sadly. To try and translate one of my favourite Pispers quotes into english: "You wonder why we get bombs under our butts? When do you start wondering why we get SO FEW bombs under our butts?" EDIT says: the US even installed Shah Rezah Pahlavi (the one Pispers starts the story with) because they didn't quite like the idea of a secular democracy of his predecessor Mohammad Mosaddegh and therefore got rid of that man. (In 2013 the US government formally acknowledged that fact.) You can just look up the name at wikipedia for the whole story.

It gets even better: *When Stalin tried to get rid of Shah Rezah Palavi, they treatened to Nuke Russia. This essencially started the cold war, and Stalin shut down West-Berlin, and called the USA out for KKK-lynchings. *When Shah Rezah Palavi visited West-Berlin in 1968, student (former rock and roll rebels) protested. When the Police, together with the Shas goons attacked the Protesters. Then the Protesters fought back with extrem Prejudice, bacomming the 68er which brought a lot of social changes to west germany, and had a lot of influence on the society from the 70s to the late 2000s.

Hey! Exciting to see you react to this, looking forward to the other parts. It’s a really good tho rather old piece of satire, I assume from like 2005. Some things are lost in translation and he makes many references to local German politics, which of course not everyone will be familiar with. I still think it’s worth a watch, it’s a great piece. Gerhard Schröder was the chancellor to Germany for 7 years until 2005. He’s not at all beloved in Germany, but he wasn’t a tyrant, the joke he was making „imagine how desperate you would have to be to back the pope to get rid of Gerhard Schröder“ wasn’t really a comment on his person or politics, but an attempt to illustrate the situation in Persia back then into the Western world. The bit about Angela Merkel was a reference to her growing up in East Germany, a dictatorship that ended with peaceful civil protest. He‘s dragging her over her call for violence, justifying it with her own experiences, when in fact there was no violence involved in the fall of the DDR. The piece is from before Merkel‘s 16 years of chancellorship in Germany and she actually ended up being rather popular within Germany.

Salvador Allende was socialist, and he would have made it harder if not impossible for US companies to get chilean copper cheap. That's, as far as I know and have been told by Chileans, the reason why Allende was removed through a US-supported military coup. Americans complain about MIddle East terrorists now, but it the US that created most of the original groups in the first place. I'm glad that you're interested and open minded regarding world history (and your nation's part in it). The whole first Golf War (Iraq vs. Iran) has an even more shameful history from an American perspective: The U.S. secretly also armed the Iranians during that war to keep the war going for as long as possible and maximize losses on *both* sides (this was later known as the Iran-Contra-Affair). The official reports by the Reagan administration-appointed "Tower Commission", of course, said that the president didn't know about the extent of these wrongdoings (which also broke an U.S. arms embargo) and claimed that the U.S. was simply "trading arms for hostages".

btw. the way shah reza pahlewi came into power was another coup 'd etat. Organised by Kermit Roosevelt jr. the grandson of an american president and with financial help from the cia (operation Ajax). The guy who was in charge for the country before was Mohammad Mosaddegh, the first democratically elected president of a secular iranian state. He wanted to 'repatriate' the oil wells in iran. Those were all 'british possession' and the iranian people got almost nothing from it. That led to a british sea blocade for iran. Then the US got into the game.

I think the problem is, that the US government doesn‘t think or admit it made big mistakes. For example the Nazi regime led to millions of deaths and the complete destruction of germany. This was a very big blunder. So we learn every aspect of our history at school to make sure, that these mistakes never happen again. If the government can‘t admit mistakes, these mistakes will never taught as such. But we learn from mistakes.
