Hello ASL Heroes!!! Hey, I could really use your help. If you’ve enjoyed having access to an expert in ASL you can help me continue my work for you. A small monthly donation from you would instantly make a big difference here at the studio because teachers don’t earn much and I could use some help paying for server and domain hosting for Lifeprint.com. Right now you can help out a humble (not to mention kind, caring, generous, compassionate, helpful, friendly, fair, and hard-working) ASL teacher -- just go here and a few clicks later you too will be a true “ASL Hero!” www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=64QMBRBXQSV6G Thanks! - Dr. Bill p.s. Want to have your very own USB drive with four semesters worth of ASL instruction (that’s the equivalent of two years of colleges classes) for just $79.95? See "SuperUSB" in the ASLUniversity bookstore at: lifeprint.com/bookstore/bookstore.htm Take care and love to you all. :)

Gah! That is just beyond cruel -- the Teespring store not allowing you to obtain one of the coolest mugs on the planet due to the online system not recognizing your address! Hmmm, brainstorming here -- Have you considered moving out from under the bridge?

Dr. Bill, I notice all these videos say 2, 5, or 7 years old… are there any recent videos this year? Thank you for all you do!
@sign-language
Жыл бұрын
For the most recent videos, go to: www.youtube.com/@sign-language/videos and click on the option: "Recently uploaded." Another approach is to go to the ASLU master playlist and scroll all the way to the bottom (it might take a while though since there are hundreds of videos). kzitem.info/door/PL6akqFwEeSpiLwRFA3ZvuOWMwPXwI7NqA

Dr. Vicars, at about 18 minutes you make a joke about 'half a plan' - is that something that would work in a conversation, or was it just to reinforce the proper way to sign the word? For example, if someone were to ask if I had a plan, could I use the one hand to indicate 'half a plan'? Are there perhaps other instances where signing part of the sign would convey a similar meaning?

Gabriel, That is a great question! I have set up a Facebook group to provide assistance and feedback to individuals wishing to receive advice regarding ASL. If you haven't done so yet, you may wish to visit and apply to join: facebook.com/groups/Lifeprint.ASLU/ If you do wish to join please keep in mind that you will need to "read the rules" and answer a couple of questions during the application process. (If you don't answer the two questions the moderators tend to delete the application.) After you are a member of the Lifeprint-ASLU group feel free to post your ASL-related questions there after doing a search for the answer using the in-group search function (available on full-size browsers). You should receive some excellent answers. After a reasonable amount of time if you haven't received an answer from the group and if you still need my assistance feel free to tag me from within the thread. However, since I'm "here" and your question is interesting I will tell you that "no" -- signing PLAN with one hand would not result in the pun you are seeking. Note: I like how you are thinking though and you are absolutely on the right track as far as ASL puns. There are hundreds and hundreds of ASL puns. Some even make their way into mainstream use. For example: CAT+UP = ketchup: kzitem.info/news/bejne/r4qM15qbgKBjeWk (At least three versions of "cat + up" exist!) Try the link below on a full-sized desktop browser (it doesn't work on mobile browsers). kzitem.info/rock/Zy9xs6Tn9vWqN_5l0EEIZAsearch?query=pun That should give you a KZitem results list with lots of pun examples like signing "understand" with your pinkie to mean "understand a little bit." Warm regards, - Dr. Bill ___________________ William G. Vicars Ed.D.
