The USA are playing Portugal this Friday 18th November at 10:30 in the morning Eastern time. The winner of the game goes to the World Cup next year. Definitely worth a watch, even if it’s a bit complicated at the start, the commentators should explain most rules when a penalty is given etc

You can't pass forward with your hands in rugby or knock on forward but you can kick it forward. Provided the player is behind the kicker when the ball is kicked he's then able to chase the ball and make use of it without being offside. It's a tough sport in general, but the most common injuries I suffered, other than broken bones was scrape marks on my legs from the opposition's boot studs.

@@NAIATHEDRAGON There are a few videos showing the brutality of Rugby in the old days. It's a lot safer now than when I was playing in the 80s and 90s. Try this one if you fancy a good reaction "The MOST BRUTAL RUGBY VIDEO You Will Ever See | Tackles & Big Hits" Take care bro!

Basic prinicples ball must be passed backwards, carried or kicked to move it forward, only player with ball can be tackled and ball must be placed down behind the goal line to score

At 9:44 that was the USA (red) vs South Africa in a 2007 World Cup game. The guy that the #14, Ngwenya, left behind was Bryan Habana who was regarded as one of the quickest backs in world rugby. South Africa, one of the powerhouses of world rugby won the game 64-15

To score a try (worth 5 points) in rugby, the ball carrier actually has to touch the ball on the ground under full control which is where the American Football 'touch down' originates. Sliding in can be the best way to do this when under pressure although occasionally it can be a bit of 'showboating' as well. The scoring team is then entitled to take a 'conversion' kick at goal; it is kicked from in line with where the ball was grounded, so it's worth getting closer to the posts to make the kick easier (if it is safe to do so); a successful kick is worth two extra points.

rugby is very structured not so much rugby league but if you are looking for a mental sport where anything goes - look at the AFL - that is aussie rules footy only the aussies play it - its their number 1 sport and the athleticism they have to have to play it and the rules are mental also with no pads and the gear is skimpier than the rugby gear
