Nobody could argue that all the albums on this list were hugely influential. Nevertheless, if we're listing the albums which made huge novel strides and are claimed by many other bands to have influenced their sound the most, surely 10cc's eponimous first album, Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells, and Supertramp's Breakfast in America should each be mentioned. I'm a massive Maiden fan and The Prodigy, Massive Attack, I would add The Sweet in there, too. But I do love all these (mostly already mentioned) Bands/Groups, which are great English bands like The Beatles, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, T-Rex, The Kinks, The Clash, The Cure, Oasis, ELO (Jeff Lynne, who is a musical freak) Radiohead, Def Leppard, Deep Purple, 10cc, The Animals (with) "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood", and of course with their "The House of the Rising Sun", The Sweet, Sweet "fox on the run, Ballroom Blitz and some of their heavier song, too,....ect There are so very many to go through) Okay I do have a soft spot for the Spice Girls, too, lol My favourite Girls band, which isn't hard;-P

I enjoyed your reaction thoroughly and was pleasantly surprised with your knowledge and passion. Most of these groups 'hit singles' do not approach doing justice the the breadth and depth of their art over their albums ... Bowie's 70's work, Sabbaths 70's albums , Zeppelin of course. The only fly in the ointment for me was Oasis who i agree had a popular sound, instantly recognizable, but for me there's was a small body of work and that was one dimensional in my view, nothing like the multi dimensional group the Beatles who inspired them. Well done

As a Beatles fan I would add all their albums, because all of them were original. The cake on Let It Bleed was the work of a cook, who became one of the most famous British television cooks, Delia Smith. Progressive bands like Pink Floyd, their albums are a journey according to the setting of the tracks from start to finish. There's a number of bands that came after Floyd that does this such as Nine Inch Nails and Tool. As for the double guitars, I can see the practicality of them as instrument tuning can change from song to song and for Zeppelin to use one for their Stairway to heaven. They would have to have breaks in the song for the guitarist to swap guitars.

The main reason Brit pop made such an impact in the US is because of video in the 80s. Back when music made its way over to video format it became immensely popular all over the western world and at the fore front of that in the US was MTV. In Britain we already had a head start with music videos thanks largely to a show called Top of the Pops and when MTV rolled out there were hardly any US bands with music videos and all of the most popular stuff on MTV was Brit pop. At one point 9/10 of the top songs in the US were by British bands which is testiment to how much a music video sold an artists work.
