I'm Singaporean, I suggest you try out these foods: Laksa ( Thick Rice Noodles in Curry like soup) Chicken Rice ( The rice tastes like chicken, I'm sure you'll be amazed by what it tastes like) Chili Crab ( the holy grail, this is sooo good, can't get enough of this!) This few are quite popular in SG, Singaporeans, I want you to comment below the best Laksa/Chicken Rice/ Chili Crab you can find!

I think you mean "multi-racial" or "multi-ethnicity," multi-rational doesn't really mean anything. But you're right, your part of the World has many different rich cultures and heritages that all provide their own flavor.Plus, I don't know if I've ever had ANY Asian food I didn't like. Then again, I hit the Asian grocery at least once a month and I snack on dried cuttlefish. I'm a weird American.

malaysia and singapore basically share the same foods. malaysian go to singapore to eat hainan chicken rice and they often come here to eat nasi lemak and laksa. other than that, singlish and manglish are basically the same Rojak language. we speak the same language anyway. we're the same country until the separation. and this both country share alot of similarities to indonesian cuisine when it comes to savoury. instead of just mentioning 'Singapore', you could mention Malaysia too.

melon seeds are mostly consumed by the older generation (pioneer batch). Its meant as a past time snack plus it gives the person something to do with their hands and mouth. Remember in the olden times, there was only 2 tv channels that broadcast for like 6-8hrs a day and 4 radio stations (a station for each major language). Most people don't have much to entertain themselves with, so eating melon seeds kills time plus its inexpensive.

And if its all just snacks then the White Rabbit sweets Mamee (god I hope they actually USE the seasoning) Also guys, guys You say the food all come from all the different countries I get that but if that was the case there'd be like nothing to be under Singapore's name. If the recipe was brought over from the original country and in Singapore so long, it would have changed bit by bit. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Would any of these be considered as Singaporean? They're all from different countries. Haw Flakes and the seeds are from China, Squid Chips are popular all over Asia, And Satay is general South East Asian, but originally from Indonesia. I get that Singapore is a melting-pot of different cultures, but I don't think anything in this video is "Singaporean food". Maybe they should have tried other foods that are uniquely Singaporean, food you can only find in Singaporean cuisine and no where else. That would have been far more interesting.

the red melon seeds (melon seeds dyed red) are meant to be cracked open before eating the crunchy part inside. and it is delicious chicken satay is very popular within the malay archipelago. and the satay was supposed to be dipped into the peanut sauce. sometimes they serve it with kicap manis instead in some parts of indonesia. too bad there wasnt any ketupat to go with the satay. in singapore there is also a food place called satay by the bay (near gardens by the bay)

Its kinda funny to watch the asians be all super surprised when they are exposed to things from their own or similar cultures. Idk if their being ignorant for the sake of the video or just really never tried things that have usually been in an Asian's diet
@xsugarcandyx
10 жыл бұрын
Ditto, I completely agree. I am more than sure they would've been exposed to some of these when they were younger, I've grown up in the UK and most of the "asian" type foods I know of and have tried. Baffles me to say the least.
@liastarr1000
10 жыл бұрын
Just because they're Asian doesn't mean they have the same foods and cultures. It's like saying it's weird that an Ethiopian is surprised by a Nigerian dish because they're both African.
@likedmyowncomment3547
10 жыл бұрын
Most asians would find it offensive what you just said because people are always calling them the wrong names because they look alike so asians like to have the cultures stick out so none of them would expect other asians to try these foods
@bhavna5325
10 жыл бұрын
they may be asian, but their parents may have moved to the United States before they were even born. thus, they were brought up around more American food than asian food. and generalizing it as "asian food" is wrong too. for example, Korean food and Malaysian food. Both are asian food but they are so very different. Do you honestly expect every asian to have tried every sort of asian food item that exists? that's insane. do us all a favour: stop for a second, and try thinking about it logically before posting stupid comments.
@nbcali3390
10 жыл бұрын
There could be multiple generations that have been removed from their original countries and therefore don't have the same amount of exposure to traditional fare. It's not like everyone from an Asian country is "fresh off the boat". About 5 generations back my family was in Scotland, but I've never tried haggis. Is that funny, too? There's always comments like these, usually directed at the Asian people in the video. Way to generalize.

Haw flakes, squid chips, melon seeds??? I'm sorry, but these are HARDLY food that you associate with Singapore. Satay...MAYBE. (Satay is Singaporean food only by virtue that there are a lot of ethnic Malays in Singapore, otherwise it is mostly associated with Malay / Indonesian cuisine). Don't get me wrong, Singaporeans do eat haw flakes, squid chips, and melon seeds...but for me they're just weird choices. They are not representatives of Singaporean cuisine. Imagine if...a group of Korean people who really wanted to taste American food are given...potato chips and cheese balls.
