I'm shocked that someone "outside of Sweden" likes Kalles, always thought that it's a taste you have to grow up with to like it, fun!

Well at least here in Finland some of the people have grown to like it. I loved it as i was just a kid and i don´t think that then (almost 40 years ago) there were only the original taste. Others have came later to the market or at least to Finland. Same thing with the goat cheese, but that we didn´t have here in Finland. We had to buy it from there if we visited in Sweden.

The Räkost is a type of mjukost (soft cheese), which is made by melting cheese and mixing it with butter, that way it stays soft after cooling down. And the tubes are of course pasteurized, that is why they can be kept in room temperature (not after opening them though). There is a whole rack of many different flavors in every grocery store, with everything from smoked reindeer and crayfish to blue cheese and sriracha. I strongly recommend that you try the hot jalapeño flavor (it is actually spicy).

Svennes and Kalles is like Pepsi vs Coca-Cola, so similar products but competing companies. Svennes from Orkla and Kalles from ABBA. However since a while back Orkla bought ABBA so they are now both owned by the same parent holding company.

This may sound counterintuitive.. But one of those knäckebröd rounds makes a great but slightly odd pizza bottom.. Slap some tomato sauce on that sucker.. And some grated mozzarella... And in the oven 12 minutes and you have a great snack/dinner.

No actually, mackerel is a perfectly good breakfast food - we Swedes just really like our fish lol! We've got several types of röror with shrimp and fish you just slap on a piece of bread with (optionally) a slice of cold cuts. Maybe that's a video idea for another day, buying various types of röror (both fishy and non-fishy) and trying them on bread :)! Also, if you're ever up for trying mackarel again you should buy the canned mackerel in tomato sauce and put it on some regular Pågen bread, mash it and spread it, and top it with some mayo (alternatively mash and mix the mayo on the bread together with the fish). Doesn't sound apatizing AT ALL, I know, and it doesn't look that great either - but it's very tasty!

Hi guys! This was so much fun to watch! Glad you like tube food and some Kalles, since I'm vegetarian I was happy when the vegan one came out. Would love more tube food videos, there are a lot of them in Sweden (it's easy and practical, I guess that's why we have them - also Norway seems to have them, don't think Denmark does - I think it might be related to hiking culture). Would be fun to see you try different cheese ones, like ädelost (blue cheese) - for christmas there is usually some new seasonal taste, and some become permanent, like blue cheese with pear, apple/cinnamon, saffron and so on (to have on gingerbread). Don't think I have seen you try this before. For best possible taste select a good quality gingerbread, glögg or julmust to go with it. 😊Are we weird for having/eating all this tube food? What's your verdict? 😜

@@justinandgeoff Great to hear! Yeah, so easy to take with you when you go for a walk in the woods, visit the cabin or go on a little boat trip for example. Harder to do with other bread spread and such. This fits in a pocket and you don't need a knife to spread (if you don't want to). 😊

Swede here: Orkla is the parent company that has Kalles, Svennes and a bunch of other products as wholly owned subsidiaries. Kalles has been around for AGES, and Svennes came about as a kind of attempt to steal market shares from Kalles and was a bit of a budget version in comparison. As for Kalles being a breakfast "food" I'd have to disagree. Kalles is a condiment, not a main ingredient. And I really hope you did store that Kavli shrimp cheese in the fridge after opening. They're fine in room temperature until opened after which they require cold temps to not go bad. Kavli do have a whole range of different tasting soft cheeses like Ham, Bacon, Chanterell and Brie. Also a couple different green cheese variants, a range of Mozzarella based ones and some "Flamin Hot" ones including Smokey Chipotle, Strong Sriracha and Hot Jalapeno.

Kalles and Svennes are soft tasting "kaviars".. for kids, for breakfast! And one put butter on the "knäckebröd" first and then egg, befor one aply the caviar! However, for adults there is a smaller tube calld "Ejderns", (gues why its smaler?) one use it in the same way.. and it make the hair on your cheast to grow! Its strange becuse most american seems to love the "räkost"? And then why the tubes, its small packages, seald and airtight.. it last very long time, but open tubes is "kylvara" suposed to be keept in a refrigirator! There is bigger buckets of spread cheese for familys, whit a lot of differens flavors, (dunno those flavors is from real ingredienses)! And the makerell tube is just a way to put makerell in tomato sauce in a tube.. you are two adults, buy makerell in tomatoe sauce in a can, eat with boild egg and knäckebröd! Tuna and Sardines is as comon!

Well i think Kalles rundiga caviar (with fresh cheese) is way better than original. I have never tasted thad gold or vegan. I+m not even sure do we have those here in Finland. That prawn cheese works better on white bread and for all of those its better ihf you have some butter/margarine on your bread and then you spread that tubed stuff over. At least Kalles original is much better becouse it is so damn salty to eat.
@justinandgeoff

@@justinandgeoff Ou jeah. That´s why i recomend that rundiga becouse it really is much softer taste and less salty. My kids like it alot too. They sure won´t even eat the regular one. I´ve seen on some YT video that there is regular rundiga and then there is some flavoured that is not sold here in Finland so do not have a clue what does it tastes like. And i deffenetly suggest to eat it top of regular white bread like toaster (but not toasted). First little bit of butter and then spread that caviar just like the butter on top. Eggs sure fit with that too. I even eat some times just eggs and put it top of the egg 😁.
