Love your chart in this video man! I've been binging your channel the last two days and love the clarity you bring to this space. I also interpret their move as a response to the Robinhood Gold. Not so much in the numbers and multipliers, but they will always want to have the shiniest gold card on the market. They could have revamped any other card but instead they chose to elevate their bonus (Robinhood offers no bonus) and raise annual fee (raises prestige) while offering an aesthetic object that twinkles more than the Robinhood Gold. My analysis is completely qualitative though.

Great stuff CJ. I enjoyed this comparison video. As for me and my family, I spend over $20k a year on dining and groceries combine. For me the Amex gold is just a winner alone just off the multipliers. I look at credits as completely useless or the cherry on top. As for the gold card, the credits are definitely cherry on top. Disclaimer I moved from one big city to another so it’s very easy for me to take full advantage of those credits offered by the gold card.

Amex still has an issue with acceptance worldwide. Maybe it’s improved, but it’s still nowhere near a Visa or MC. So the gold is far from what an actual “travel” card should be. @@ItsMeCJ I do travel internationally so the Citi Strata Premier is a really useful card for me for many occasions. I generally like the Citi transfer partners but not as much as the Chase transfer partners. That being said the Citi transfer partner list is likely going to be better for my trip planned in two years to Asia with my family so both points are useful to me depending on my goals at time time. I like that if push came to shove and I wanted some cash back that both the Chase and Citi points would give me 1 cent per point with no hassle. I will generally run the Chase Freedom Unlimited as my catch all card over the Citi Double cash but there will be times when I will prefer the Citi points and swap out what card I am using.

@@ItsMeCJ Hello CJ, I like the Citi transfer partners almost as much as I like the Chase transfer partners. I am planning a trip to Asia in two years with my family where my Citi points will be more valuable for flying to and from our location likely using Chase to book Hyatt or my IHG points (I can buy these for 0.5 cents per point fairly regularly) to make this dream trip for my children become a reality. Both point currencies have their place for me and if push came to shove I could get one cent a point in a pinch. I do travel internationally and like to get things at grocery stores when I do so the Citi Strata Primer card is really useful to me across the world. Once I have my fully built out credit card setup I will have the Chase trifecta, Citi trifecta (Sapphire Reserve), Discover More card and Costco card as my primary setup picking the catch all card depending on what points I want to earn more of at the time.

I’m trying to actually trying to use my points for travel and the trickiest part is looking for flights based on reward points. I’m simply not sure how to do it other than to check the website for every airline that’s in every alliance, and that seems extremely inefficient, tedious and time consuming. It’s why most people likely just use the travel portal, but I’m trying to get more value than that plus I want to really learn the game.

seats aero helps. Even so, you have to learn that system, and even then I found that it’s inaccurate. For example I found business class flights from SFO to Thailand for super low points. Only then to find out, business class is for the layover flight. So it was 10 hours in economy and only 1.5 hours in business class. These KZitemrs really sold everyone these dreams of amazing flight experiences, when in reality they are extremely difficult to find.

@@professorx8258 I can’t speak for the community but I can speak for me. The Venture X is super easy to justify with the $300 annual travel credit. Since I travel at least once every year, it really makes my annual fee $95 instead of $300 since I’d spend that $300 anyway. And then the 10k miles is worth $100 toward travel. As for the Truist Enjoy Beyond, this is the first time I’m hearing about that credit card. I see that it has a $95 annual fee and a $100 statement credit to help offset that fee.
