Something therapeutic about these Ami videos, far more enjoyable than watching reviews of large SUVs which I have zero interest in. Liked the addition of drone footage!

Only ever seen one on the roads, mind you I hardly ever see too many EV6s. Yes I plead guilty, have an EV with huge battery and only 5-6 times a year do I need it, however in my defence it is great for mopping up surplus solar power, I rarely pay anything to charge at home, yes DC fast chargers are eye watering. I have V2H so I will explore that a bit more.

Theres been a lot of rejections recently of the Ami as the build quality is poor and according to one youtuber it lets water in and the chassis rusted already ! not very good for a brand new car

Not sure whether there’s still only one Ami dealer in the whole of Scotland or not, but you’d think that’d have something to do with the lack of them! There are a few though, so hopefully you’ll see one soon! 🤞

@@gordonmcmillan4709 Agree with your comments. I specifically wanted a small runabout which could cover at least 120 miles on a round trip in winter and 180 in the summer. The 500e is great for this and lovely to drive, whether in a congested town centre or on the motorway. Were I younger and had a growing family, then the MG5 is far better value and comparable with, say, a Ford Focus in most aspects including the price.

I’ve done 1000 miles in my ami pop since the 20th of April, I use it every day for an 18 mile return commute to work, only issue I have had is water ingress at the bottom of the doors in heavy rain. Solved it by pulling off the lower seal in the door sill and run a bead of black gutter sealant in the gap between the black floor pan and blue outer skin door sill, waited for it to dry and popped the rubber door sill back over it again

@@ModernHeroes That 12 volt battery might be an issue on EVs. Did you notice a change in your SOC after? Some EVs will charge the 12V battery off the large battery and if left unchecked, might drain the battery completely. If left for longer, leaving the battery discharged for long periods will degrade it faster. I also saw a case where a broken 12V battery burned the contactors.

Nice to see anyone driving an Ami. However, I really struggle with the OTR price for a plastic moped.... Especially when Citroën advertise the cars at £99/mth but when you try and take advantage of this "deal" it vanishes and you are offered payments that are considerably higher. For myself I would rather buy a second hand BEV, like a Zoe.

@ModernHeroes I believe the Ami is cheaper in Europe? I love the idea of a cheap second car, but I think the Chinese have got it sorted with their $4,000 BEVs. Paying nearly £10k for a plastic box seems like a load of money!!

Just to put this car’s name into its traditional form, the Citroen Ami was either the Ami 6 or Ami 8. The Six had the same engine as the 2CV and the Eight had a four cylinder engine of approximately 1000cc.

Just a thought, maybe you could take Ami to that super steep hill in Somerset and see how far it gets up!? Away from Ami, I've always thought if I was to drive to Devon from the Chester area my ideal stop to charge would be around Gloucester, so would it be possible to do a regular(ish) video series on the local chargers and how they are performing? It might be of interest to a lot of us travelling from up North via the M5, which on ZapMap at least, seems to be relatively sparse on chargers!

The problem many people will have is the absence of local Citroen main dealers. For a car that is limited to 28mph I want a local dealer that is within easy distance along mostly 20/30MPH roads. Citroen is part of the Stellantis group. Why don't Stellantis use ALL the groups dealers as contact/maintainence hubs for Ami/Topolino variants? This little car would cover over 90% of my driving needs but it's no good if the nearest Citroen dealer is along 60/70mph main roads that are well used by White Van Man and Lorries , with few safe overtaking points. How do I get the Ami safely in for the yearly service I always have done? The local Fiat main dealer is less than 2 miles away. Stellantis is missing a trick.
@ModernHeroes
Жыл бұрын
It doesn’t need annual servicing - the service schedule is 2 years / 12500 miles. It is a valid point though - the availability of Ami dealers can be an issue in some part of the country. I do wonder if the launch of the Topolino (assuming it’s going to come to the UK) will improve coverage for Ami.

@@ModernHeroes I always get a yearly service or mini service. With the Ami it should be cheaper than an ICE car as it would mainly focus on brakes and suspension. Can fill up the washer bottle myself :-) My yearly service also throws up the occasional tyre issue that i've not noticed, Most people neglect checking tyres and rely on MOT's to catch tyres that are close to illegal. As I said, the only reason i haven't ordered an Ami is the lack of a main dealer in my town. I think it's a fantastic little car to bomb around town in.

@@ModernHeroes I understand that. It's just something i've always done over the years since being able to buy new cars instead of old bangers. The Ami, mechanically speaking, is very much 'old school' mechanical engineering even with an electric motor. Maintenance should be relatively simple.
