I think what you are doing is very cool. I was at bone and joint yesterday for doc apt and walked out with 2 ladies. One stopped me and said I was an inspiration because of keeping going after amputation. It made me happy for her to stop and acknowledge that yes I was keeping on keeping on cuz some days its hard! I think as amputees we do have to challenge ourselves sometimes.

My friend always did it because his leg was just sore. He lost his leg getting hit by a train he really didn't care what anybody else thought

I struggle with agoraphobia so it's hard to go out in public in general. I just wanted to tell you that you're an inspiration to me. ❤

I have the same exact issue. I am also a below the knee amputee, but I do not like going out in public without my leg on and I have no explanation why.🤷🏻♂️

You do have a reason... at some point you were imprinted by a negative experience that left you afraid of having those intense feelings. So you are afraid of being afraid, in part. Classic Conditioning, Pavlov's Dog conditioning experiments. Even though you can't clearly identify the source, what you are doing is helping you to desensitize your feelings. Remember just because we 'think it' or 'feel it', doesn't mean it's real! What's your negative self-talk?? Challenge it! New here, subbed and binging some. Great content!!

I’m a little different cause I had cancer surgery at 15 and would always wear shirts into pools to cover my shoulder because I was embarrassed of my scar. Now it’s been 2 years and I’m more confident showing my scar! (Yay!) People’s silent judgement is scary! Sending hugs!💕

Another thought.... Perhaps you are afraid of what the person may be thinking, and you are filling in the blanks with the negative thoughts that you are afraid the person is thinking........

Ask yourself, "Are those who judge really worthy of you or your friendship?" Do you really want those type of ppl involved in your life? Probably not, so don't waste another moment worrying about it cause they are just a blip passing through. Those who care will still be there. ❤

Personally, I would have a harder time with 'talking to myself' 🙊 during the recording of a video in public than any issues regarding taking off a prosthetic leg!!! 🥴🤪😝😂 If you can talk to yourself confidently - kick that leg around in the open air like you just don't care!! 😜😁

It seems to me like you have an adjustment disorder. I did after my car accident. Please get mental health support to make this process smoother if you can. ❤️

I agree. Adjustment Disorder means a person is having a tough time working through something that happened.

I think the reason you're uncomfortable is not because of equal access/disability rights is simply there are certain things you don't do in public and you know this. Like you don't take out false teeth in public places. Listen to your inner manners and unless you really need to and no privacy just don't. Love your content. ❤❤❤

Kerri, just got you book in the mail. Love it. I feel the same way as far as taking leg off. I have not even been into my full first year because i've had so many hiccups along the way, but I constantly have the fear of people staring at my leg. 👉🦿🥲 I want you to know that you have been a big inspiration for me with my BELOW KNEE AMP. - Dan Z in ST.LOUIS -
