My brother purchased a new '68 W-30, I bought a used '70 W-30, in 1977. The '70 455, was a beast! I drove it to the track 3 days a week, to school and work every day. It ran low 13's @ 106 MPH, through the mufflers, even with 75000 miles on the engine. All stock with a set of Hooker headers. It weighed in at 3720, with me in it. Best run was 12.98 @ 107 MPH. Great cars.

I'm an avid modeler and I just started watching your videos. Very well done, love everything I've watched. You've inspired me to build even more. I used to build a lot when I was a kid through my teenage years, then I really haven't done much for the last 20 years. Then 2 years ago my Mom bought a new Corvette Z51 (real one). Shortly after she bought it I was browsing through Corvette ideas for a gift for her and I found Revell makes a model kit of the current gen Corvette. I bought it and built it for her for a Christmas present. I went as far as going to the Chevy dealer and ordering a can of genuine GM touch up spray in the correct Corvette Sebring Silver Metallic paint code of her car and carefully cutting the roof off for the removable roof panel (the body plastic cast was molded in red with a solid roof). I realized I loved modeling as much if not more so than I did when I was a kid, partly because I'm so much better at the details and making a neat and clean build (when I was younger I was a bit sloppy with the glue and paint lol). Since I built that I've built a few more and love it. Watching your videos has made me even more enthusiastic...... I've compiled a pretty long list of kits I'm looking forward to and can't wait to buy since I started watching your videos! Thanks again!

Nice Job! I love this kit. Sure it's not new, it's not the best, but I have always loved it. One question, did you paint the front inner wheel wells red like they were on the real W-30's? I'm an Olds fanatic but I have to admit leaving them semigloss black on a couple of builds of this kit. I have always thought about building some inner fenders for this kit because I think the wheel wells painted red show off the missing inner fender detail.
@hpiguy

I did not paint the fenders red on this build. An oversight on my part.

One detail that gets missed on W-30s, even the full size cars, is that the front inner fender wells are supposed to be red.

Good video! I have a question I have built that amt oldsmobile cutlass supreme kit before and what I remember that my kit had from steering, the front wheels can move left to right and I didn't see that in your build kit ! Did it hade it in you just glue them straight? Or that new repop kit don't have position front wheels anymore? Thanks great video God bless
@hpiguy

Thank you. Yes, the wheels can be positioned and left to be movable. The kit is the same now as it was in that aspect. I glued mine into place.

In kit form, it is the same engine. All external dimensions and features are identical for all Olds big block engines, 400, 425 & 455. Also, All small block Olds engines share the same external features and dimensions260, 307, 330, 350, 403. Further, All Olds engines small block and big block share the same exterior features and the dimensions are only slightly different from big block to small block. The big block is 1 inch wider at the intake manifold and 1 inch taller from the crank centerline to intake mounting surface than the small block, that equals 1 mm in 1/25 scale.

The cool thing about making a model is that we can make it any way we desire. This idea that a model must be a perfect replica of the real car and the criticism of those who have fun and make a model the way they want to is what is killing this hobby. If you desire perfect factory example models, this will not be the channel for you. The followers of this channel like FUN model reviews that show how the kit goes together and if there are any issues. No one here expects perfection or for my models to be the prime example of how to paint it in factory expert details and I've never claimed they are either.
