Hey actor! If you’re still hunting for the perfect fit monologue, I’ve put together a collection of my favourite Shakespeare monologues sorted by casting type and general vibe. Makes it easy to pick one you love and another one to contrast. You can find it here: shakespearewithsarah.com/shakespeare-collection/

Thank goodness for HVAC, so we no longer have to tempt the rheumy and unpurged air. 😂Portia is so great! I love the contrast between this scene and the one following which highlights another wife (Calpurnia) attempting to persuade her husband! I appreciate your excellent work! In spite of the female roles being severely limited in this play, when they show, they really shine.

Hello Sarah, great to see you again on your channel, and a very good analysis indeed. Too late for me to become an actor, but this always tickles my brain. It's a phantastic idea of the playwright to include the female character of Portia in the play, even if it's just for two scenes. Deborah Kerr was good as Portia in the black-and-white, I think. Regarding the two Portias, I always found the naming of characters mysterious in the plays. What justifies giving them the same name? I never got it. It's not by accident, as Brutus' Portia is mentioned in the "Merchant". Similarly mysterious why a comical character in the "Midsummer" is named after a Spartan general. But anyway, I'm rattling on. Thanks for the video!
