Goat Oak trees abound in Indian Shell Mound Park on Dauphin Island. They are surrounded by oyster shells mounded up by our native ancestors who once roamed the south Alabama coast. The shell mounds are thought to be a gathering place for Choctaw, Creek & other Indian Tribes to fish and harvest oysters seasonally.
