Thanks to O'Seas Conservation Foundation, Cressi, SharkProject - Switzerland, the Discovery Channel, and Neal Watson's Bimini Scuba Center, we were able to run a large-scale experiment studying - my previous invention 'The Sharksafe Barrier' and due to its lack of success, we also tested my newest invention - 'The Exclusion Barrier.'
These studies are important because currently local governments in several places around the world implement shark culls (shark nets and drumlines) as a way to create a perception of having safer beaches. However, these nets do not offer any further protection and the thought of killing animals to make the ocean more convenient for our recreational use is just saddening...and disturbing. We need to change and we either must accept the risk once we step into the water (e.g. not modifying anything, no nets, no culls) or use an eco-friendly alternative.
Our Exclusion Barrier is an economical technology that has a large impact and the most exciting part is that the governments will no longer be able to say we cannot implement the technology because it is too expensive (like the Sharksafe Barrier)...since our nonprofit has and will be fundraising to make these barriers free to those who want to implement them.
So let's move forward - let's make a difference and let's make shark culling a thing of the past. If you are interested in helping us in this endeavor, please message us as oseasfdn@gmail.com or visit our website: www.oseasfdn.o...
