Got to love Trinity Desktop Environment. Of the lightweight DE's and Window Managers, TDE felt like the easiest to figure out and easiest on the eyes while not hogging too many resources. Perfect for my old 1 GB netbook that I needed to upgrade away from XP (if I wanted to ever use it online lol). Q4OS also recognized my netbook as an EEE PC and set it up specifically for that machine, so it's more than just a "pretty face". It also detected when I ran it in Virtualbox. It's just been an overall good experience getting to learn how to use it, and I think it's a very nice learner environment for those switching from Windows to Linux. Its repositories, while being Debian, are a big lacking. Couldn't find DeaDBeef as an example which I had no problem doing using MX Linux.

Hi, Q4OS also ran on my EEE PC netbook (32 bit operating system, 64 bit processor) from a bootable USB. I am a little nervous about trying to install it onto the hard drive.

I am using Linux Mint with the Trinity Desktop and I am quite happy with it the way it is. I see no need to install this on Linux as we already have very good star menus that make it easy for us to find things. As well as add things to the start menu by using a menu editor such as Menulibre. I used to use Windows and I loved the Windows XP and Windows 7 start menu. But now I am on Linux there are certain changes that we have to get used to. We could make it look like Windows and add the Windows start up sounds but if you want that then just use Windows. Once you use Linux I think you have to accept that while there are many desktops that have the things we knew in Windows such as the Panel or taskbar and start menu. You have to let Windows go and get used to Linux not make it a clone of Windows. Now that I have switched to Linux I want to let Windows go. Yes Windows was good when we had Windows 7 but that is not supported now. So you either use Windows 10 or 11 or move to Linux. So time to move on as Linux is not like Windows. I find it is much better than Windows was in I don't get the problems I had on Windows. I think most Linux users know what I mean.

Q4OS 4 is insane. It is easily the go to Linux for Windows Users who have a really old PC they want to revive. But for my taste the trinity desktop is too heavily modified which makes me sad because i love the old KDE 3.5 style.

It’s an open source project. If you can do it better, go fix it in the source code.
