Great catch pal that looks like an old boxcar hopper track railcar conductor switch on the tails with a good sounding engineer trail on that one...

Nice spot you have there. I Like the different colored Engines. Being mostly Union Pacific out west we usually get 1 Type Engine and that's it. Have a great day!

Hey the guy in the orange hat! Thanks for stopping by, I’m by no means a professional videographer but man do I love trains and posting my favorite class 2, W&LE. This was out in Belle Vernon, PA. I’m not positive but I think your from up Beaver Falls? I been in love with trains since I was 4 years old watching P&LE pull coal drags through Monessen. I want to learn as much as I can about one of my passions, I appreciate you stopping by, have an excellent rest of your day👍🏼😎🇺🇸

Smooth and gentle hand on the train brake is what it takes. Have to give it time to set all the way back. Keep some power on as she slows. It’s not that hard if you use your head and don’t manhandle the brake & throttle.

What you said makes perfect sense! Lots of engineers I see are nowhere near as smooth, granted you have slack but some guys aren't too gentle. Appreciate you commenting, have a great weekend 👍🏻😎🇺🇲

Nice catch, Eddie. What is that track? Is it to go into a yard or plant to drop off cars? Have a great day.

Hey there Dru, well here’s a detailed explanation for ya. He will stop and cut the 4 SD40-2’s off of the rest of the train, he will pull all four past the switch, the conductor will throw the switch, he will then cut the 4th unit off from the other 3 units. He will then pull that unit on to track 2, the other 3 units will pull back through the switch, conductor will throw the switch again. The 3 units will back up and couple to the hoppers and tankers, they will pull the hoppers all the way so the last one is before the switch, conductor will then cut the hoppers from the rest of the train. The hoppers will now get pulled down past the switch, once past the switch the conductor will throw it, the 3 units will shove the hoppers onto track two and connect with the 4th unit that is sitting there idling. A second crew mans unit 4, so the train is now the 4th unit, now the head unit, 42 empty hoppers, and the other 3 units at the end, with the original crew. They head up track 2 to another switch that gets thrown to move to track 3, track 3 goes about 6 miles to the coke plant in Monessen where the empties will be dropped and loads picked up. They use the push/pull method because the track is in pretty bad shape, they want eyes on both ends of the train in case there’s an issue. Sorry for the novel Dru😂, have an excellent weekend 👍🏼😎🇺🇸
