Hello and welcome to another wing design. Up until now, I've been building my wings using Ed's techniques from Experimental Airlines utilizing a carbon arrow spar and foam board covered packing tape for finish and colour.
This time I decided to build a flitetest wing. I still have two wing halves, but no carbon arrow shaft, no paper on the foam board whatsoever, and only a foam spar to keep the wing halves together. It's an amazing outcome and extremely light weight.
The paper alone on the foam board is 50% of the weight of the foam board sheet. By removing the paper I've been able to half the weight of the wing construction and design. I've also saved myself from having to purchase bulk amounts of depron. Removing the paper off the foam board is a substantial weight saving.
So in the end, I've utilized two techniques from two different youtube channels to get the best of both worlds. Thank you again to both Ed from Experimental Airlines and the crew from Flite Test.
