Superbe video!

C'est un merveilleux jardin. Quoi qu'on puisse lire. Jeu d'essences. Jeu de hauteur. Jeu de niveau de couleur. Jeu mineral/végétal. This is a nice garden and all, and you really took care of it … but it's not a Japanese garden. What makes a Japanese garden is not the cliché buddha statues and the koi fish in the pond - it's the sense of proportions, the perspectives, the harmony of the landscaping ... all of this has thousands of years of tradition, of refinement and perfection. I am sorry to say: what you show here is a European garden with some Asian decorations in it.

The garden is lovely.But an authentic Japanese garden does not contain several flowering shrubs,plants or trees because too much color removes the calming vibes of a true Japanese garden.

This style is not what I believe is japanese, one of the problems is that you have a view of huge arears from your position, - there isnt any surprise behind the next corner. how I see a japanese garden is : that it must be a walk with discovery´s around each bend on the path. sekond the intensive use of the "round ball bush" seems to much. Third, a lack of small hills and diversity in the landscape is missing BUT, once that is said, then this garden is amazing, but I presume it is very hard to maintain. !

This should not be referred to as a 'Japanese garden'. While the effort is to be admired it's missing the essential 'feel' of a Japanese garden. There are way too many features - it's very much a Western garden in the Japanese 'style'. One could probably make three of four Japanese gardens out of all the elements used here. Notice that there are three different styles of stone lantern in the one view - this is a huge mistake and would never be seen in Japan. The pathways are not laid out correctly and the garden looks very contrived. It misses the point of emulating the sublime beauty of Nature. Highly artificial - it's a shame people are being misinformed by having this referred to as 'Japanese". It's pretty but not Japanese by any stretch of the imagination.

Yes Tony I agree with you. Aquatechnobel you spent a large amount of money on the garden but did you not ask an expert Japanese gardendesigner to make a design? I live in The Netherlands. I am not an expert Japanese gardendesigner but I like to come over some day and give you a list of tips. nr 1 Some (maple) trees scattered around. nr 2 tone down the colours nr 3 make appear / disapear scenes.

This garden is strange and not in a good way. Sorry but it's pretty obvious. It kind of reminds me of a rich person with no taste who just has a bunch of new expensive furniture in their house all thrown together.
@kachi2782

Some of the trees are truly fabulous and the gardeners who grew and take care of those trees are very talented, but the garden itself is really not very nice. I have to be honest, i am from Japan, my neighbour is one of the greatest garden designers in Japan and he agrees with me. This is the idea that westerners have of a Japanese garden but it is not a japanese garden. It is not subtle and everything is all over the place. It is more oppressing than soothing, and the bits used are not of good quality. The water especially looks too artificial and those lanterns are hideous. But the worst are those Buddha statues and those stepping stones. It looks like a manga. But i repeat it again, the trees are really good.
