@@invictusbp1prop143 Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry for what you have been through. How long ago was that? Was he caught? Jailed for life hopefully? There are many very cruel people in the world. TBH, there really is no satisfying way to get revenge. However, people who are rightfully sent to death row to be in solitary confinement waiting for their execution date seems like the best legal option there is. People write all kinds of stuff about feeling sorry for death row inmates and all that garbage instead of focusing on the victims. What about them? What about their families? What about the lifelong suffering they have to endure as a result of the inmate's actions?? Physically, recovering had to have been excruciating for you. Mentally...worse. Years before Sean and Scott. He got 30 years and spent 15 years years than after he was let out of prison. He still was on probation for a long long time. He also had to wear a ankle monitor. Without knowing fully all the details his mom died. And sometime after wards Randall said some bad things I can't say here than left. You know the rest from Mr Ballen in the video. I was fishing on one of the docks there with other Navy brats my age and I forcefully cast my line into the water (unintentionally throwing myself into the water) and almost drowned. This story brought back that memory. Not really related, but the place. I’ll never forget being underwater, not knowing how to swim and seeing eels or snakes swimming to the top of the green looking water as I was submerged. I’ll never forget that day!

15 years and parole after murdering 2 people…?! The justice system in this country is completely broken. It’s a miracle that the 2 men survived when they could’ve easily been two more murders. I hope these 2 men sued the hell out of the state for releasing this man.

Added to the unbelievable justice system you guys have to put up with- the mental health system is even worse! If your mental health system was in some sort of reasonable shape, Ricky would have been shipped off to a mental health secure hospital years before this. They may not have been able to 'cure' him but at least wouldn't have let him out until he was mentally stable. He seemed to be pretty good at fooling people and keeping it all under control though- he managed to live with the ankle bracelet for a decade first!

Ever since my friends and I were just teenaged boys, we never camped with just 2 of us. Always 4,5, 6, 7 or up to 12 to 15 of us. Good numbers to have when you're off the grid. Camping alone, hiking alone, hunting alone, anything alone out away from civilization, is dangerous. Aside from accidents, wild animals or even just natural causes that may put you into an emergency situation, there are also mentally deranged people out in the woods, where many like to hide. Not everyone living away from society is a psychopath. Some just like the peace and quiet. But that doesn't mean there aren't any psychopaths living out there either. And for those psychopaths who do dwell off the grid, for a lone camper, hiker, etc. If they find you, and their intent is a violent one, they're able to do what they want with you and no one is going to know anything is wrong with you until you're reported overdue to return from your little solitary adventure. You go out there to do that stuff, you're far better off with a big group. Alone you're a sitting duck. I think it's stupid to venture off alone in the wild. Even with just 2 of you, that's not great odds either. Especially 2 women or a man and a woman. 2 guys are going to fare better most of the time, I know that people will say that sounds sexist and I don't care. It's time to get real about this. Violence against women is so incredibly high in this country. For the majority of predators, a woman is who they're looking for which is going to force women to take measures to protect themselves and I'm sorry, heading out certain places alone as a woman is just stupid. I get so upset when my wife does that crap. She's so stubborn, like most independent people. But damn it, there's being independent and then there's being stupid. Some of the risks she's taken have just been stupid and careless and makes my stomach upset knowing that these deranged animals are lurking in plain sight most of the time. It's ok for women to not be so polite to strange men who approach you. Screw his feelings, read "The Gift of Fear." And take the authors advice and warnings VERY seriously. I know this story is about 2 men. Who survived! But WHAT about the 8 pairs of women's underwear they found in his tent? Who's are they do you think? MrBallen is right, we will never know. Might be some of the women from Missing 411. David Paulides books, read them. We've taught ourselves to ignore our 6th sense that alerts us of danger. We do so because we value politeness in society over everything. Screw that! Value your safety first!

Oh I love Mr Ballen, especially in middle of nights when insomnia has me tossing & turning- despite stories being freaky, his voice just calms me.. there's a few channels that copy him, but the original is definitely the best! Gotta ask if Mr Ballen has Italian roots but, cause he speaks with his hands so much! Glad he got out of military service intact, respect that he fought but us Aussies will never understand how or why US sends troops to unnecessary wars.. 🥺

My cup hit the counter loudly right when mr b said “bang” in the sentence- rickey turned and heard a BANG sound. Love these silly overlap moments.

@@renastone1270 I just went down a total rabbit hole and that was a rumor. The dog was adopted thankfully into a new family (according to several news reports)

The ‘plot twist’ definitely emphasizes the old saying, “There’s two sides to every story.” Another reason I try to be impartial to just about every one-sided post on the internet. Thank you, Mr. Ballen, for another wonderfully told cliffhanger!! ❣️😃
