Great video with lots of useful information. Similarly to you, in the summer I run into humidity issues but having my setup in the basement even with the AC on I sit around 64% humidity. I found that with the AMS system with enough silica gel packets I can keep it relatively low. One day will add the A1 to my collection but for now I'm eyeing the P1S.

Exactly! I don't think I mentioned it in the video, but I do find I use the P1S more, simply because I can look and see that the humidity is relatively low inside the AMS. With the AMS lite, I have no idea if my filament is wet, unless I've just dried it and popped the spools on.

I've had my X1 for about a year now. Recently, slightly before the sale, I bought an A1 based on a review. I enjoy each of them. It is so much easier to swap the nozzle / heater on the A1. The very first time used my new X1 I selected the Bambu PLA CF filament. At the end of the print I experienced a filament break, about 1/8 inches about the heater assembly. For me it turns out that contacting customer support for Bambu is awful. I have yet to complete a customer service request due to the complexity of the request procedure. On the other hand, I was able to find a video that explained how to remove the filament fragment and I was also able to swap out the assembly. A few months ago I upgraded to the hardened hot end for the X1. Changing that proved to be a bit of a problem because it's just awkward getting the nozzle assembly attached with the heater and the thermal paste. It was a mess. I started doing some Lithaphanes with my A1 and learned that the best way to do this was with a .2 nozzle. Swapping the A1 nozzle was a snap, well two snaps, but it was so much easier than the X1. Coming from roots with an Ender 3 Pro, I had already cut my teeth in printer upgrading and maintenance, so my experience with Bambu was a relative breeze. Now, with the X1 and the A1 I spend my time printing.

For me, the A1 got the nod due to the ease of switching out nozzles. With AMS lite and being able to switch from 0.2 to 0.4 in about a minute, it has made just simple printing fun without all the hassles of changing filaments, bringing out the toolbox when there is a clogged nozzle, or sweating breaking something. The printer heads are cheap enough i keep a few on hand to switch out if there is an issue instead of spending valuable time trying clean a clog.

Great video as always and great comparisons! I really love my P1S and I'm so glad I listened to you and got into the Bambu Eco system. I usually don't mind tinkering with stuff but its SO much nicer to actually spend more time printing and less time fixing the printer! I've had some minor issues but everything will eventually have problems. I'm sitting around 600 print hours on the P1S and almost every issue until recently, has been from a setting I overlooked. I did have a Wi-Fi issue once but never had it again. I'm glad I got the P1S but I do really want the A1 a lot more after getting the A1 mini in the other day. They both have their pros and cons but my mini is so quiet! The purge reflector threw me off for a second on my first print, I wasn't expecting it to just launch the poop across the room like a monkey at the zoo haha. Its definitely really hard to determine the best printer in the Bambu ecosystem though and I think thats a good thing! The X1C has its benefits with the Lidar, camera, screen, and higher temps for a larger variety of filaments but its just so expensive. The P1S has so much going for it being an enclosed Core XY printer and setting up a mini print farm with it is super easy when you can technically fit like 12 printers without AMS's on a 48"x72" adjustable shelving unit. Also being able to print higher temp materials like ABS, ASA is great. Bambu says its capable of printing PA and PC but I'm not exactly sure what upgrade is needed for that when most Nylon's want the bed to be 120C. The A1 gives you the same print volume and basically the same quality that prints 90% of what the average user will print for quite a bit cheaper than the P1S while being significantly quieter too. And the A1 mini is the perfect printer for anyone just getting into the hobby or wanting to pick up an amazing yet affordable printer for their kids or family members. Even though I had larger printers like the SV03, the vast majority of my prints were and still are under 180mm. The quick swap nozzles on the A1 is a game changer though and hopefully Bambu switches their Core XY printers over to that with new releases. I do think the P1P should be discontinued though, the A1 mini has the same print quality and size for minimum $200 less. And upgrading it to a P1S costs more than just getting the P1S. its funny that you mentioned how long it too to assemble your Prusa, my first printer was an Anet a8 that was a Prusa clone and it took me a good 4-6 hours to assemble it only to find out the control board was bad lol. The A1 mini was faster to assemble than my P1S since it was like 6 screws or something to mount stuff on but I don't think the P1S took me more than 15 but I didn't have the AMS. It was about an hour to start printing because of the firmware update, calibration, and having to setup an account. Anyway, a lot of great information here and I really wish I had this video before buying my first Bambu printer! It wouldn't have made much of a difference since I went to buy the A1 combo on the day of the recall lol but if I was starting over right now, this would have been so helpful! Just went to Micro Center for filament but then 15 minutes before I left the house I saw on their website that they were having deals on Bambu printers. I was kinda thinking of getting one for a while but wasn't serious about it as I already had 3 printers for what I needed them for. Just kinda wanted to try a multicolor printer. I brought money for a P1S but ended up bringing home an A1 after seeing them in person and asking questions and A1 seemed to fit my needs the most. I really like it that it's open for easy access all around it and easy to change nozzles kinda thing. Still stuck in my head though if I made the right decision since I didn't really have time to research before I bought it so I searched on KZitem when I got back home and found your video.

The mini is the same as the A1 with a smaller bed. My P1S is approaching 3000 hours and I've replaced the print head once. The only real problem is that it lost my wifi network and I could never get it to work again. I finally got a mesh router and plugged it in to my ISP modem and could get the P1S to work with that. I used my phone's mobile hotspot in the intervening months. Not a common problem though from what I can tell so not a deciding factor. It is my go-to printer. Also have two A1's with AMS Lite and one mini. The A1's do a good job but they are limited by the moving bed which makes tall thin items harder. Bed has slightly more real-estate because there is no exclusion zone like the P1S. P1S is 10% faster. AMS Lite is better than regular AMS. A1's do have more problems breaking down, especially if you use a lot of silks and multi-color filaments like my wife does. I've replaced hot end heaters twice, which is a bit of a pain. I'm often having to clear nozzles on the A1s. We must have a dozen of the things lying around. I've had to replace one extruder. I replaced one of the beds when the new bed shipped, but that one's bed had died a week before the replacement came in. The other is still using the existing bed. We'll swap that out if we ever need to, but for now it works fine. ATM my older A1 is having a z-height problem that I'm working on and the other isn't heating the hot end again. I asked my wife to call in a ticket as I'm tired of paying for equipment failures and want to see if Bambu can fix something simple. My wife beats the A1's like a rented mule, so I think her use profile is probably close to a print farm, but my opinion is that if I were going to build a print farm, it would be with P1Ps since enclosures don't work well in print farms (nobody needs an opaque printer with a glass door hanging out.) The mini is too new for me to declare anything, but with maybe a hundred hours on it, it's been a champ.

3000 hours is a lot, you must be selling quite a bit of prints lol! I had that issue with the WIFI on my P1S about a month after getting it and I had to unbind the printer and basically reset it. If getting a new router fixed it for you, its usually something to do with the saved connection settings to that specific device getting corrupted. The P1S is just suing an ESP32 board with 802.11n or WIFI 4 now and its pretty limited hardware as it is so something could have gotten overloaded and corrupted the connection. I see this happen a lot with other devices too and the easiest/quickest fix is to change the WIFI password to the router and reconnect the printer. Then you can change it back so all of your other devices pick up the connection again and then reconnect the P1S again. Worst case you might need to change the SSID instead of the password but its the same process and you can change back after it resets saved data from the old SSID and password for that specific device. I don't know the specific reason behind this since I never looked into it, but I think it has something to do with the router associating the credentials with the MAC address of the device. Since something got jumbled when you forget the network and reconnect, the router still tries to pick up the profile tied to the devices MAC address and changing the SSID or password temporarily resets that and allows for a brand new connection if that makes sense.

@@jmp7624 I've printed a lot of Dungeon Blocks for my other hobby, but typically I like bigger and more challenging projects. For example, I just finished a riser for my P1S with 33 plates using ASA and PETG-CF which has probably added another 150 hours, so it adds up. As far as the WiFi thing, I'm not as knowledgeable as you by a long shot, but I did a lot of research and tried everything I found with no success other than using a different network entirely. I don't recall the specifics, but the conclusion I arrived at based on someone's suggestion is that there is a parameter in the ISP-supplied device that you could change by going into the Xfinity web page that was not available from the device interface itself. The person showed pictures of the screen. I tried that, but unfortunately, Comcast had removed the ability to modify the parameter at some point, so I couldn't implement the fix. It was at that point that I started using my phone's hotspot, burning up my data allocation every month without fail. Then I got a three unit mesh system to facilitate better signal to the back of the house and the garage and immediately put the P1S on the mesh without issue. I never had a similar issue with the A1's or the QIDI, or the K1 Max or the Kobra 2 Max.

Good comparison and I agree with you on some points. But, really different beasts. P1S will print PLA, including really crappy filaments (99% of the hobbyist use) all year flawlessly. Can't say the same about A1. I run a farm and I know the pains of open bed slingers, during cold months, even the best of PLA's start to warp and shift. For this reason I will choose P1S over A1 always. Not against bed slingers, just think corexy enclosed has distinct advantage. And one final thing, the heated bed cable issue they had, just wait till the bed has done 3000-4000 hours, that cable will go again. I has done for all Prusa's, all creality machines, and every other bed slinger on the plant.
