More critically ill and injured patients are being cared for in The Alfred’s 45-bed intensive care unit than ever before as the hospital marks 10 years since the modern facility opened its doors in 2008.
Since the first patients filled beds in the $25 million ICU, more than 24,000 of the State’s sickest patients have received leading care following car accidents, burns, injury and acute illness.
More than half of patients arrive by air and road for the specialist care offered by our state-wide services including trauma, heart and lung transplantation, burns and hyperbaric medicine.
It’s an ICU for all Victorians.
The Alfred (Melbourne, Australia) is one of Australia’s busiest hospitals, known for its specialised services and care for complex patients.
