I've been told that the developer has seemingly abandoned this plugin and the full product licence is hard to get a hold of. If that's true, then I see no problem in using the plugin for free. Consider this a disclaimer. Fortunately there are other affordable and well regarded solutions, such as Eareverb 2, which I'll be making a video on at some point. It has both early and late reflections so using another reverb for tails isn't necessary to get great results. Here's the link: www.eareckon.com/en/products/eareverb2-reverb-plug-in.html

If this rules, it can be perfect for achieving to have a german sitting on the strings (V1-Cb-Vc-Va-V2) with the good libraries like CSS. Also, it can be easier to mix different libraries as it is only required the close mics. What bother me is that in this video the strings seems to be too dry for my taste. But maybe its because the strings are SF Chamber.

WOW, I'd been eyeing 2CAudio PBJ (the Precedence and Breeze combo) for a bit because I wanted something simple to hold my hand on generating stereo information for positioning orchestral instruments on a virtual sound stage. This thing INSTANTLY gave me results very close to what I was hoping to get out of the ER placing effects before considering tails. Thanks so much for highlighting this, I'll definitely support the dev if it works on multiple sources as well as it did on me throwing a dry cornet down and listening to the beautiful aura envelope it as I moved it around the hall. How are you liking the Envelope reverb? It's very lush but sounding but very shallow until it starts getting VERY DEEP very suddenly around 45-50% on the dry wet knob for me.
@CoryPelizzari

Yeah Envelope has a very distinct sound but that mix knob needs some serious bootcamp. Putting the verb on an FX send solves that though so not a big deal.

@@CoryPelizzari WHY did I not think of that when I was messing around with inserts on a track while kicking the tires-- brilliant. Thanks! VSS2 sounds like the perfect thing to pair with the Aaron Venture Infinite libraries to place them and give them that ER glow and stage depth to blend with others. "A bit" is understating the price difference by quite a lot. VSS2, when it was easily purchasable, was ~230 for the Pro version. MIR costs about as much before you even have a single room pack, which is where it really shines imo

@@NebulonRanger the price difference reflects the quality you get, for a state of the art world class plugin, Mir Pro is actually cheap, and you would be wise to purchase it on a sale witch makes it even cheaper, sometimes even %50 cheaper.

That's a lot to pay for some EQ and delay presets. You can do all this with your DAW's built-in tools provided there's a per-channel precise millisecond delay parameter you can tweak. Some tips: Bass & treble frequencies are attenuated as you move "further away". You can do this with shelf filters in any parametric EQ. That's all "air absorption" is doing. Delay only either the left or right channel to change directionality. Play around in the 0-40ms range. To simulate early reflections, add a short slap-back ping pong delay to every instrument. Longer delays for more distant instruments. Pre-fader send it all to your 100% wet reverb and bob's your uncle. The sound these "realistic positioning" tools impart is rarely desirable and turn out to be more work in the end despite the setup being easy. With the above tips, you can get the sound you want without the knobs getting in the way.
@CoryPelizzari
3 жыл бұрын
"Desirable" is a very subjective term for both composers and mixing engineers. If I like the sound of a certain quick setting in this plugin, but then I spend more than twice as much time recreating it 1-1 manually using eq, delay and LR tweaking, by then desirable has lost all meaning and I might as well just dip out the mids, throw on a nice preset from Seventh Heaven and be done with it, or pay someone else to mix it. Different mixing engineers will have different techniques and preferred styles, including doing it manually, using a positioning plugin or using a variety of other channel strips to get what they want. There's never a universal "best way" for shaping sound, especially when it comes to more inventive sonics. For example, some people thought stereo was muddled garbage and mono was pure. Some people think the opposite now. Some people actually like the sound of poor quality equipment and lo-fi processing. As long as you're not destroying the audio with clipping, low and mid frequencies, phase cancelling or over-limiting it's pretty much a free for all.
@HOBBITSODYSSEY

You really should take time and research Mir Pro,theres nothing like it in the market today,nothing you can do in Daw gets even closer to the realism you get with Mir Pro,even Alan Meyerson,a sound engineer Master used it for the movie Mank. Panning and delays will get you nowhere even closer.
