Good review! I'm also making the step up to a 1000cc bike for the first time. Looking forward to it!

This is in response to all those that asked me my thoughts on the bike after having it for a while now. I still love the bike. It is so easy to ride and comfortable that it is never a chore to jump on it. I have taken the standard muffler off and have installed a R55 Yoshi muffler in its place. Much more of a gp look and I think it is more complimentary to the overall style of the bike. The bike is still tight. No rattles or noises, no leaks either. I have changed over to Pirelli tyres after I picked up a screw in my back tyre not long after shooting this video. I think these tyres are much better than the standard.

Throttle control is urban legend. All will come with muscle memory and a good cheap basic reflash. I am a national dirt -15age champ 250cc and 12 yrs on supersports in my country as commuters and street racing.street raced em all. Gixxer 1000 eats em all with a good setup. But stock to stock is perhaps The best most reliable comfy supersport ever made

It is about throttle control, but to me, why buy a "Litre" bike if all you are going to do is "Granny" it around town? For the same reason I have a 12" Massive Audio subwoofer sitting behind the seat. I don't listen at full blast 24/7. But when I do, it puts a smile on my face that my stock radio can't do.

Would you recommend this bike if I'm moving from a 250 ninja? For the power modes how much does each setting cut the horsepower by?

They say gixxers are ugly but if you take a gixxer in any available color besides white and blue, you have the sexiest of the big 4 from japan.

I test rode a 2015 GSXR 1000 a couple days ago and I'm planning to buy one next month. Is there much of a difference between the 2015 model and this one? Does anyone know? It's pretty difficult to find information regarding the differences between the model years. Also, speaking of respecting the bike and keeping the throttle to a minimum, during the test ride the guy leading the ride took us at 110km/h in an 80km/h zone. I was very scared. Not because of the speed, but because I didn't want my license suspended again. Edit: Upon further research, it seems the 2012 and the 2015 models are one and the same. I don't know if that's a good thing, a bad thing, or neither.

Its neither bad or good. Its a suzuki thing. Why change something that works well. Reliability with gixxer is highest of standards

Nah nothing that comes to mind. I hated the exhaust that came with it, so that was the first thing to get changed. At first i was also knocking the mode selector button under the left grip but just changed the way i placed my hand and now never happens.

+ro0m2ro0ck You'll be just fine. GSXR have the lowest seat height out of the Japanese super bikes. You won't get both feet down, but that's true with all sport bikes. I know because I'm only 5ft 4". You only need to ever put one foot down anyway when riding a bike! There are no bikes you cant ride, but GSXR is just most comfortable.

Good review. I just have one comment (just as everyone else on here) I here all these "Intermediate" riders say, "It's all about throttle control, all about throttle control" It is about throttle control, but to me, why buy a "Litre" bike if all you are going to do is "Granny" it around town? Or you'll be that guy on Sundays with your "1000cc" in the back of the pack. I mean if you are going drive like that, why not keep your precious bike (600, 750) and get to master EVERYTHING you can out of that FIRST then when the time comes where you think you are good enough, get it I am by no means professional either, and I currently ride 750 (ONLY because I'm 6'3, 240lbs) and I still haven't gotten everything out of that bike. Again, I just wanted to basically say, at the end of the day you have have a bunch of "Squids", "Noobs" who have been riding for about 2-3 years (little to NO experience) and they want to jump up and hang with their big boy friends with their "Liter" bikes just so they can be like "Oh look, I'm cool too." OR it could just be a "Penis" thing Again, good review, nice bike, ride safe, and please be careful

A somewhat valid point. But when you were at school did your mum buy you shoes that only fit for 6 months, or did she buy shoes a little bit bigger so you can grow in to them? Unless you are a professional race bike rider, no one completely masters their bike. If in the massively unlikely event that they do, who has the money to go changing bikes every year or so? Your point is valid in theory, in reality though it doesn't really work that way. And since the highest speed limit in Queensland is about 110, maybe we should all just be riding postie bikes lol.
@TheVilouboy

So aren't your contradicting yourself? If no one completely masters their bike (he upgraded from a 600/WHICH he didn't master) why upgrade? Also, in regards to the "Mum" comment, yeah she did buy shoes bigger. And when I bought my first car, I HAD to buy a corolla. Because something about beginners and power......just don't mix too well. But hey it's his money. Have fun "Piddling" around under 7K

TheVilouboy Not really sure what youre on about. I dont think I am contradicting anything. I think people can go and buy whatever they want and they just have to ride it or drive it within their limits. Its not all about going out on the weekend and racing around the hills. And if I am in the back of the pack then that is likely because of my abilities and my level of comfort to ride at speeds. Most of the dicks I have seen out riding are dicks because of the way they ride, not what they ride. I felt comfortable enough to buy a litre bike in so far as I can ride it reasponsibly. I dont feel comfortable enough to race around the hills like a douche irrespective of what im on.

So, the guy can't just like the torque of a liter bike? Maybe it has nothing to do with "hanging with the their big boy friends", but it's just a ride style. Maybe he just likes to shift less (compared to the higher revving 600's) and have fun with the bike he enjoys.
