You can play a lot of things in DADGAD. Blues, Classical, old tunes. I play with a pick. It works better than open D when you are at the F#-G point. F# on 4 then G on 3.

Very well done young man. I’ve been playing guitar for many many years. I am 68 years old and just now getting into open tuning’s. Thank you for this information and I plan on pursuing this because it is freaking awesome. Thank you.

Good to start with the reason for doing this. Unblocking. But there is a wider reason - think Jackson Browne's steel guitar backing on the earlier songs. There is a world of slide guitar out there!!

Ill be frank, this is completely new to me; only tried DGDGBD (never understood why Keith decommissioned that low D), standard drop D, Eb and bari (B) tuning. But this is completely new to me. Sounds like Zeppelin has this tonal palate, really nice stuff. Edit Wouldn't it make more sense to have an F# instead of a G? In fact I'd say even an F so you can just sharpen it with a finger... Anyway love the sound just curious, guess that means I'll be trying it later.

I prefer DADFAD, which is minor D open tuning, sounds dark and sometimes creepy, just like Clint Eastwood would like when his Man Without Name kills one more bad guy.
