My mother had 6 kids. I'm the baby out of the 6. My dad was abusive to her and beat her up until she finally had enough and divorced him. She worked her fingers to the bone to take care of all us. She never got food stamps or Medicaid and she never gave us up when it got too hard. I have so much respect and love for her

I sued my parents in 1985 for child abuse, a civil suit years ago. I was on national TV telling the world. My immediate family and relatives all disowned me. It has been 48 years since I have seen my sibling and my mom, and they still refuse to see me. Once I left home at 18, I began my healing process. Apparently, my dad has already passed. I have tried the last 7 years to see my immediate family and they still refuse. My cousins found me 7 years ago and we have tried to see my family, but they hide so I can't see them. I spoke on child abuse for over 15 years at different colleges, helping other adults get into therapy and get healed. I still fight for women and children. I know all the statics and numbers out there. The worse place for a child in most situations is in their own home.

I'm sorry you went thru that. My mum divorced my bio dad and then our step dad was so abusive daily and he did apologise for it when I was 17. Mum never did and denys that we were ever beaten etc. A year ago my sister and I stopped speaking to them. They care more about the child they had together. My children hate them too. Most of my kids are adults and made their own minds up. My husbands family are so much better

Loved this film, and it was sad how Gregory and his brothers were treated by their father and mother. I was neglected and abused by my natural parents. All I wanted was love and be safe . I'm so happy that Gregory won the case so he could live with the lovely family and be happy and safe and loved. It was a shame that Gregory s brothers should of continued being with the family, but they were not informed that they were going to live with their father. Children should have a say who they want to live with if there is abuse or neglect happening. It is still continuing today where children aren't being looked after and not loved, and they repeat what their parents are doing drinking and into drugs .Gregory knew that his parents weren't going to change . What a happy ending 😢😢😢😊❤

😢❤ I love, as a human being, a Catholic-Christian, and a prolifer, where it says something like: As a child, the law recognises you have rights, the right to live in safety, to secure your safety, and to be happy. 👍Absolutely. My thoughts went immediately to babies in the womb. 🤰 The unborn. Children, unborn. The right to be safe, secure, happy.🌹✝️🛐 A sad and wonderful story! I recall my shock, years ago, when I first heard a TV news headline: Child Divorces His Parents !!! What?! The devil's hooting his horns off, right?! All I could think of was: rich country nonsense again. What happened to: "Honour thy father and thy mother..."? ✝️ I still love God's Laws, even after such a powerful and thought-provoking piece. I guess I'll revisit the Catholic Church's teachings on ... Of the top, I'd say, I can't see God smiling down on divorcing one's parents. Should he have gone back? Absolutely not! They were right to adopt him considering everything as we saw unfold. Still, ... boy! God help us all.🙏 Happy Sunday everyone! Hopefully, those who can, have been to Mass.🌹💒🛐✝️ Great movie. 👍Sharing.😇

Gregory Ralph Kingsley (born July 28, 1980) is the first American child, who, at the age of 12 years, legally severed ties with his mother. He changed his name to Shawn Russ after the juvenile court judge Thomas S. Kirk "ended the parental rights of his natural mother and allowed [his] foster parents to adopt him".

I am so glad Sean found a good family and some peace from a drunkard mother and unstable father. No child should have to go through this at any age but unfortunately some do. There will not be a perfect world until Jesus comes back so we all should be aware of children being abused and speak up about it. I found it heart breaking to watch these children living with a tyrant father some of the time and then with a drunken mother other times.

This is what I like to see a good adoption! I mist my parents who died, the bond between them and me never broke. Live was hard without them. I went on, I studied hard and life went well. I left the Church and learned to even fight with God. That's what you do if God is your friend and not an authoritarian God. When someone listens to you and loves you are on your way.
