The reason why they could make noac system chips is because nano technology has improved alooooooot in 35 years, because these daya chips can be made 1000 times smaller .

They're not exactly 1000 times smaller. But the lithography has gone from the 6502 (ish) chip in the NES at 8 micron to modern chips getting down to what's called 7 nanometer. While the "process" number it doesn't mean the size anymore and has become closer to marketing-speak I'd call it close enough. Unless my memory or maths are off!

I really like weird bootleg, this one is pretty simple but still cool! Can't wait to receive my clone (Retro Champ) for my live stream where we play weird games!

Right on! I've got stacks of other oddball clone systems to tear down as I get time; it's always interesting. What I'd really like to see is one of the older chip-for-chip clones of the classic consoles. The NES, Atari, Intellivision, Sega(s), or strangely enough, Game Boy. But I haven't run into one yet. The best to look at so far are the FPGA recreations which get properly strange. I really need to shoot a video repairing one of those.

Hi Brother, did you manage to install the missing components ? For filtering or any other improvements ? I just bought this version on the internet, and I was wondering if I could do any improvement whatsoever. Later I will open it and take some pictures so I can show you. Thanks.

Sadly the cheap wiring failed shortly after the video. I'd need to fix that first.

@@PCBurn I see, I found one in very good condition, would be nice if you could find a datasheet or a way to install the additional components to make it filter the output. I wonder what the extra components on the Joystick side are.

@@PCBurn how about e-mailing the retro bit website asking them for a full datasheet of the board so we know what they designed to be in those missing spots ? I thought of doing it, but I am no one, you are an youtube with a video about it and more than thousand subscribers, maybe they will give it to you! I am willing to make some tests and even record it so you can put on your youtube channel. It is a nice clone, I liked it!

Does that thing work with original controllers? Also curious how the sound/visuals compare to authentic thing.

It's got the 9 pin, so it should. It sounded and looked good to me in the carts I played... it felt like the controllers were a little off. Not the worst I've used but low quality. I'm intending to mill some custom controllers out of hardwood. So maybe I'll test it with those!

That’s a ridiculously low number of components. I have an old NTDec, which is also a glob-top design, but it does have a few more components on the radio board.

Right? This doesn't even have any discreet voltage control circuitry. I may use it to do a test on voltages across the boards and on the I/O lines to the cartridge. Finally got a real scope and I'm a little curious what that looks like on this.

Disclaimer: It did fail after about two hours of use with no obvious cause. I still need to rip it apart again. It's a Wowstick, I took a look when I got it in case you're curious: kzitem.info/news/bejne/yqV5mnyAbXqHoKw
